MasterChef contestant Mat Beyer has reportedly been kicked off the hit cooking show after it was discovered that he was carrying a smartphone, possibly to access recipes. The producers sent the tattooed and pierced contestant packing about two weeks ago after finding out about the phone during a challenge where all cookbooks were taken away from the contestants; Mat apparently had the phone for six weeks. Smartphones are banned in the competition because it gives the contestants access to email and internet, and essentially they are cut off from the outside world for the duration of the show. Producers called back an eliminated contestant to take Mat’s place (any thoughts on who it could be?). Due to the show’s delay Mat’s exit from the show will be aired on TV in about a month’s time.
