It was announced last month that Kristy Hinze was leaving her role as host of Project Runway Australia after two years to spend more time with her husband Jim Clark and focus on her studies (she’s getting a degree in marine biology). She’d been uncertain about returning to the show since early last year, and possible replacements included Elle Macpherson and Australia’s Next Top Model host Sarah Murdoch. But the job has gone to Megan Gale, who revealed to The Sunday Telegraph that she will not only host but also act as executive producer on the reality show, which screens on Foxtel. In Foxtel’s official announcement this morning she said:
I am so excited to announce that I’ll be hosting and working on Project Runway Australia, as I feel it is something that sits extremely well with what I do, having worked almost two decades in the fashion industry . . . There’s advice that I can give, but I think there will much more that I can learn about fashion via this show and add it to what I already know, which will be an incredibly positive thing.
What she remained tight-lipped about was her rumoured new romance with 22-year-old AFL player Shaun Hampson, following her split from Andy Lee last month. She’ll relocate to Melbourne next month to shoot the show, which will premiere on FOX8 mid-year.
