Nurse Commits Suicide After Kate Middleton Radio Prank

Prank Call To Kate's Hospital Takes A Tragic Turn

Tragic news out of the UK this morning — one of the nurses involved in an Australian radio show prank has been found dead after taking her own life. Jacintha Saldanha, who worked at the hospital where Kate Middleton was recently treated for acute morning sickness, answered a call made by Australian radio hosts Mel Greig and Michael Christian during their 2dayFM radio show. Pretending to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, Mel and Michael were transferred by Jacintha to another nurse, who then revealed personal information about Kate. In a statement, a spokesperson from the King Edward VII Hospital in London said,

"It is with deep sadness that I can confirm the tragic death of a member of our nursing staff, Jacintha Saldanha. She was an excellent nurse and well respected and popular with all of her colleagues. We can confirm that Jacintha was recently the victim of a hoax call to the hospital."

Southern Cross Austereo released a statement expressing their deepest sympathies and confirming that Mel and Michael will not be returning to their radio show until further notice, out of respect for Jacintha and her family.
