Packed to the Rafters fans are probably still mourning the loss of one of their favourite characters, Mel Rafter, after last year’s horrific car crash that saw Zoe Ventoura written out of the popular family drama. When the episode aired she was in LA and chatted to Melissa Doyle and David Koch on Sunrise to explain that she wanted to test the Hollywood waters, but it seems another project will keep her here for the moment. She’ll be starring opposite Daniel MacPherson in Channel Seven’s Wild Boys, a drama following a group of bushrangers set in 1860s Australia. Zoe told The Sunday Telegraph, “I went to LA late last year and took meetings and did some great auditions. The plan was to move, but then this came up, I read the script and just fell in love with it.” She added that her boyfriend, Bondi Vet’s Dr. Chris Brown, is also pleased with the decision.
The “Aussie Western” drama is also keeping Daniel home for a bit longer and he explained, “Like Zoe, I read the first script and loved it. I certainly have no issue in my mind that I have made the right choice to stay.” They’ll soon start shooting the show in northern Sydney. Of course, this comes soon after Rafters lost its young leading lady Jessica Marais to Hollywood.
