Russell Brand continued his international promotion of Arthur and flew into Sydney yesterday morning. In the afternoon he headed to The Ivy in Sydney for a press conference with Wil Anderson as MC, where the questions asked ranged from his thoughts on the criticism his movie has received to why he compared Australia to Essex (“They’re both English-speaking, post-colonial nations . . . It seems people are just relaxed, I really like it”). He also joked that his relationship with co-star Helen Mirren is “complicated” and that it’s like an “unconsummated love affair.” He also revealed that, despite previous rumours, he won’t be meeting up with wife Katy Perry and that they won’t cross paths in Australia (she starts her California Dreams tour in Victoria at the end of the month), saying, “We sort of meet up separately.” He’ll walk the red carpet tonight at the premiere at Bondi Junction, where he tweeted he’ll try to sneak in five appropriately-dresses fans!
