Russell Crowe is no longer involved with a new movie about Maroubra’s infamous Bra Boys surf gang at the request of his wife Danielle Spencer. He started developing the project after watching the 2007 documentary Bra Boys: Blood is Thicker Than Water, which was based on the gang’s clashes with NSW police two decades ago. Russell explains:
I stepped away from that. It's not something my wife is comfortable with me approaching. Whatever was encapsulated in that documentary is not really the full story and the longer you wait the more things happen. I wasn't actually directly attached to the film, but my involvement helped the producers get their own idea off the ground.
Meanwhile, Russell has also become a poster boy for clean living. He recently told the US Today show’s Matt Lauer that he has given up coffee AND cigarettes after being busted smoking by his young son Charlie.
