Singer Johnny Ruffo has given an update on his brain cancer battle six months after revealing that the disease had returned.

Taking to his Instagram account on May 6, the actor shared a sweet photo from his Nonna’s kitchen table.

“Got a two week break from treatment, Had to go and see Nonna..,” he captioned the post. “It’s been far too long ❤️ Talk about a food coma [sic].”

The upload follows another post from April 29, where Ruffo shared a photograph giving the thumbs up while receiving treatment in the hospital.

“Been busy fighting the good fight,” the 33-year-old captioned the photo. “Another round down. Bring on the next.”

Ruffo was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017 and underwent emergency surgery to remove a 7cm tumour.

During a throwback segment on Channel 7’s most recent iteration of Dancing With the Stars, host Daryl Somers gave a “call-out” to the TV star.

After watching his series-winning performance of Tricky alongside his dance partner Luda Kroiter in 2012, Somers said: “We know you’re going through some serious health issues at the moment. We’re thinking of you and we wish you well for the battle ahead.”

Back in November 2020 revealed his brain cancer had returned after being in remission for a year.

Taking to his Instagram at the time he said: “After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned. Though I will dig deep and beat this s**t disease again.”

In August 2017, the actor and singer announced via social media that he had undergone surgery to remove a brain tumour.

After being hospitalised with a migraine, Ruffo was diagnosed with a brain tumour and credited his girlfriend Tahnee Sims for saving his life after she took him to the hospital.
