Some Hollywood stars spent this week prepping for the Oscars, while others were busy working away on set. In NYC, Jennifer Connelly filmed scenes with a young actress for Winter's Tale, while her costar Colin Farrell took a dive into the East River for the film. Lucy Liu was also in NYC, smiling as she strolled to the set of Elementary, and Stephen Amell showed off his stunt skills while shooting Arrow in Vancouver. Celebrities kicked off February by getting to work on set this week. Elizabeth Banks and James Marsden seemed to be having fun filming Walk of Shame in West Hollywood, while Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt were smiling on the set of their new movie All You Need Is Kill in London. In NYC, AnnaSophia Robb filmed scenes for The Carrie Diaries, and Jennifer Hudson hailed a cab on the set of Black Nativity. Click through to see all of this week's stars on set!
A busy award season hasn't slowed down the Hollywood stars who spent this week hard at work on set. In NYC, Jennifer Connelly spent a day working on Winter's Tale with her daughter, Agnes Lark Bettany, by her side, while Colin Farrell took center stage on the same set later in the week. In LA, Elizabeth Banks brightened up the set of Walk of Shame in an all-yellow ensemble, and things got intensely funny on the set of New Girl in a scene with Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, and Jake Johnson. Revenge can be a powerful motivator — just ask Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace in the trailer for Dead Man Down. The two play Victor and Beatrice, who have both been crossed by gangster/all-around bad guy Alphonse Hoyt (Terrence Howard), and are now teaming up for justice. It's not a totally compliant union; Beatrice has pictures of Victor murdering a man and is using them to blackmail Victor into taking down Alphonse. Dominic Cooper also stars as Victor's partner.
I love a good crime thriller, but I'm on the fence as to whether this is going to be a solid smash-em-up flick or another generic action movie. What makes the trailer pop for me is Pink Floyd's powerful "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," but I don't know if this story is involving enough for a full-length movie. Dead Man Down opens March 8, and you can watch the trailer when you read more.
An animated movie about a girl who gets magically shrunk down and embarks on an adventure in the forest sounds like a rollicking good time, but the trailer for Epic is more serious than you may imagine. Amanda Seyfried voices Mary Katherine, the daughter of a scientist, who ventures out into the forest during a storm only to realize that she's been magically miniaturized. Now surrounded by foreign creatures, she meets a sassy slug (Aziz Ansari) and an army of leaf soldiers. Soon, she becomes immersed in an attempt to rescue the forest from destruction at the hands of Mandrake (Christoph Waltz).
It may be a family film, but putting Snow Patrol in this trailer brings an introspective — dare I say emotional? — vibe to Epic. I laughed out loud at Ansari's line, and I'm looking forward to hearing the many, many voices included on the roster — Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Jason Sudeikis, Beyoncé Knowles, Steven Tyler, and Pitbull are all lending their pipes to the movie. The movie is set for a May 24 release, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.
Colin Farrell spent yesterday out in LA with his 2-year-old son, Henry. The pair stopped at Baskin-Robbins, where Henry ate a chocolate ice cream cone, and swung by a newsstand to check out some children's books together. Colin, who showed off his fit form in a tank top during the day out, is back in the States after touring Europe in support of his action movie Total Recall. He and his costars Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel stopped in both Berlin and London after premiering the sci-fi film in LA last month. Colin's next big release will be October's Seven Psychopaths, in which he plays a struggling writer whose friends get him tangled up in a world of organized crime. He also recently signed on for the drama Winter's Tale, which will start filming this Fall in NYC and star Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay as his love interest.
Kate Beckinsale, Colin Farrell, and Jessica Biel teamed up for the London premiere of Total Recall this evening. The ladies changed into their white-carpet finest after a busy day of hopping around the city doing press. Kate and Jess were a study in contrasts — Kate went for a long, black Donna Karan and Jess picked short, white Giambattista Valli. Kate's husband, Len Wiseman, was also on hand for the event. Jessica and Kate have become quite a premiere duo. They have their posing act down, having also taken the film to screenings in Dublin, Berlin, and LA. The picture debuted in the US earlier this month, but failed to make a big splash at the box office. The stars are hoping for more success overseas, and British audiences will have a chance to check out Len's directorial effort when it arrives in theaters Aug. 29.
Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale, and Colin Farrell are busy in London with their Total Recall promotional duties. The costars arrived separately for a private event last night, when Jessica tweeted a picture with the caption, "Hilarious panel with my cast and director." They were back to work this morning. Jessica made a fashionable visit to Kiss FM radio, while Kate and Colin swung by BBC Radio. The Total Recall stars have spent a lot of time together recently. They were in LA and NYC last week, then headed overseas to kick off the European portion of the tour. Kate, Jessica, and Colin went to Berlin before debuting the film in Dublin earlier this week.
The cast of Total Recall continued their string of press with a stop in Ireland yesterday. Jessica Biel wore a strapless Zac Posen dress while Kate Beckinsale went with a dramatic pink gown. Kate posed on the arm of her husband, and the movie's director, Len Wiseman, while Colin Farrell had his mom, Rita, by his side. Before Kate and Colin hit the red carpet, they stopped by a Dublin studio to chat up the project. Kate, Colin, and Jessica have been in front of the cameras for their film since July, though the overseas leg of promotions kicked off in Berlin just yesterday.
Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale dressed up for this evening's premiere of Total Recall in Berlin. They each donned floor-length gowns for the German debut, with Kate in a light design from Naeem Khan and Jessica working a back-baring Elie Saab. It seems the cast didn't stick around afterward — Jessica tweeted a picture of a jet this evening with the caption, "Auf wiedersehen, Berlin!" Kate, Jessica, and their leading man Colin Farrell kicked things off this morning. Jessica Biel wore Christian Cota to a photocall for the picture, which hit theaters in the US earlier this month.
