Designer Joseph Altuzarra has won the American 2014 International Woolmark Prize, it was announced last night. The award, which includes a prize of $100,000 toward his next collection, will officially be given to the designer behind Altuzarra during Milan Fashion Week in February. Next, he will also have the opportunity to represent the US during the final event of the international competition. This news comes after the April announcement that Altuzarra was one of 10 American finalists — alongside the likes of Wes Gordon and Bibhu Mohapatra — up for the Woolmark Prize. Altuzarra will go up against European finalist Sibling, as well as the winner of the Australian round of competitors. The local designers nominated for this year's prize include Alistair Trung, Christopher Esber, Dress Up, Haryono Setiadi, Kahlo, Lui Hon, Michael lo Sordo and Strateas Carlucci, with the winner to be announced 18 July. Looks like they'll have some stiff competition for the international round of the competition!
