It takes something (or someone) special to draw a fashion-fatigued media pack to a warehouse offsite. But, when you're Dion Lee, you can show just about anywhere and the crowds will come. The Australian designer showcased his diffusion offering, Dion Lee Line II this morning in a converted warehouse in Waterloo, Sydney. Typically the Line II collection is more affordable and wearable than the main offering, and the SS'14/15 offering certainly holds up that reputation. After presenting his main line in New York several weeks ago, we noticed today's collection reflected a more easy-to-wear (read: not just for high fashion lovers) take on the international Autumn/Winter 2014 line. Dark pinstripe prints and pops of blues were a theme in the main collection, a colour and print influence we saw trickle across to Line II today. Key colours included cobalt, navy and soft denim blues, with the occasional red look dotted between.
Dion's cool-girl take on cocktail dressing shone through on the runway this morning, and we think there's a little black dress — or three — you'll want to own next season. Heck, regardless of the cool weather, you probably want it now. Dresses aside, it was the shirting that really stood out for us. Origami-like folds, splits and buttons that do up at the back (but were left undone) gave crisp white shirts an all-new look. There wasn't much in the way of accessories, except for flat, leather sandals — a debut collection from new Sydney label, League. But it's the pictures that will really do the collection justice, so keep scrolling to see the looks for yourself.
