Virgin Blue unveiled their new uniform this morning with designer Juli Grbac on hand to launch the collection. The Project Runway winner was thrilled to work with the airline and took inspiration from the high flying 60s mixed with a contemporary edge for her designs. "I worked closely with Virgin Blue to create the ultimate design that would not only look sophisticated and have that wow factor, but be comfortable and of superior quality. To have my designs seen by millions of people every year is such an amazing opportunity and it all came to life today." The women's red shift dresses, black waisted belts and purple neck ties are a welcome change from the often ill-fitting styles we're used to seeing on board, while the men's three piece suits were tailored yet relaxed — the perfect representation of the brand. 60 Virgin Blue crew members braved the catwalk to showcase the new range, and while founder Richard Branson was unable to make it, he did send in a pretty good substitute — Elle Macpherson! Elle strutted her stuff on the catwalk, modelling the pilot's uniform (of course) and praising Juli for bringing back "glamour, elegance and fun" to uniforms. We're totally loving the use of real staff on the runway, but we do have one teeny tiny question — who exactly was flying the planes today?!
