Leave it to Dion Lee to reinvent the humble knit. The regional Australian winner of The International Woolmark Prize has taken knitwear into the future. Dion explains, "The light reflective fabric knitted into these pieces is made of glass particles, which is used in safety clothing and signage. These pieces reflect in direct light or camera flash, creating a luminous glow." The rest of the collection sounds just as scientifically advanced, with Dion exploring the didactic pull between evening and sportswear via a mash-up of neoprene, bonded stretch silks, rubber thermal films, transparent layers, high-vis knitwear and double-sided graphic prints. The future looks bright, Mr Lee, very bright. Step inside to get a closer look at the luminous Resort 2013 campaign, shot by Darren McDonald. The collection is dropping in stores and online now.
