Angourie Rice may only be 20-years-old, but she is already making a name for herself in Hollywood.

The Australian-born actor is starring alongside Kate Winslet in one of the year’s most anticipated shows Mare of Easttown on BINGE which premieres on the streaming service on April 19.

The seven-part limited series follows Mare (Winslet), a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder as life crumbles around her and Rice plays her daughter, Siobhan Sheehan.

Of course, playing opposite an Academy Award, Emmy and Golden Globe-winner would be daunting for anyone, Rice admitted that she too was incredibly “nervous”.

“I loved working with Kate, she made me feel so welcome and safe and at ease,” Rice told POPSUGAR Australia at the Sydney premiere of the new series.

“I was so nervous to work with her because she’s such a legend but she was, fantastic.”

Having been in the industry for three decades (if you can believe it), Winslet brought a wealth of knowledge to set.

“I learned a lot from just watching her work,” Rice continued. “She brings so much dedication and energy to every performance.”

Mare of Easttown also stars Australia’s Guy Pearce as well as a star-studded ensemble including Julianne Nicholson (The Outsider), three-time Emmy winner Jean Smart (Watchmen), Evan Peters (American Horror Story); Cailee Spaeny (Devs); David Denman (Outcast); John Douglas Thompson (Let Them All Talk), Patrick Murney (Seven Seconds); James McArdle (Ammonite); Sosie Bacon i.e. daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgewick (Here and Now); Joe Tippett (Rise); and Neal Huff (The Wire) — and ensemble which Rice called a “community”.

“This story is so much about community and I think that’s what we really felt on set as well,” Rice said. “Especially when when shooting in extreme environments like it’s freezing cold or you’re out in a forest or it’s the middle of the night or sometimes all three.

“It’s nice to feel that sense of community and to feel that everyone’s safe and welcome and I think that’s what I learnt from this production that that’s the most important thing when creating something like that.”
