Lover skipped Mercedes Benz fashion week this year, so consider this your front row ticket to their Spring/Summer 2012 collection presentation. Susien Chong and Nic Briand nominated Robert Altman's '70s cult classic film Three Women as their inspiration for the multi-faceted S/S line. Like the movie, emotions are a motivating creative force. Shape-shifting layers and opaque-on-transparent fabrications giving an ephemeral, dreamlike quality to sheer maxi dresses, sculptured oversized outerwear and the label's signature lace dresses — tied together in a faded pastel palette reminiscent of the film's Palm Springs location. In short it's two parts old to one part new; the femme, retrospective sensibility that we know and, ahem, love Lover for plays background to a more modern use of silhouette and texture. We suggest you peruse the look book before this killer collection starts its August to November drop.
