It was a dark but glamorous mood that pervaded last night's David Jones Autumn/Winter fashion launch. A model perched high atop an illuminated cursive-font sign welcomed guests; the train of her dramatic scarlet dress hitting the red carpet below hinting at the extravaganza to come. Sydney's A-list was dressed accordingly — frocking up for the fashionable fête, but it was Miranda Kerr we were all there to see. And see we did, with the ambassador modelling key looks from the department store's new season edit; starting off with Ellery's "biscuit" hued cocktail dress before working Zimmermann's noir lace pantsuit, a leather-bodiced Willow frock, Camillla and Marc's sculptural LBD, Collette Dinnigan's Chinoiserie-print gown, Josh Goot's spliced skirt-suit and for the finale, Josh Goot's delightfully spliced leather two-piece.
We've rounded up our favourite runway looks from all-Australian A/W edit, with particular attention paid to the biggest trends of the season; leather (often of the coloured variety, doubled-up graphic prints, slick suiting, lace and sheer.
