On Wednesday 31st October, 30 curvaceous models stood towering in sky high stilettos, designer jewels and glossed lips, waiting for Australia's first curvy couture model casting. Simone Pérèle's senior marketing team, together with Darrianne Donnelley, Director of BGM Models, spent hours trawling though the 200 online entries to find their top 30 girls in their quest to find the next Laura Wells... A curvaceous girl in between a size 12-16 who radiates confidence, elegance and femininity — with the potential to grace the covers of fashion powerhouses like Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Madison.
The winner of this illustrious title will be awarded a 12 month contract with BGM Models, Australia's first agency to represent models over a size 10, and the opportunity to model for global lingerie house, Simone Pérèle.
To hear more about the search for Australia's first Curvy Couture Model, just . . .
Each girl was asked to walk for the judging panel and then explain why they wanted to win the coveted title of Australia's first Curvy Couture Model. The answers were inspirational.
"I was bullied all through high school because of my shape, and now I want to encourage all girls to embrace their curves, they're beautiful", says Katie, 14DD.
"I want to show young girls out there that they can model high fashion and have an amazing career, whilst maintain a healthy, curvaceous figure — it's not just for size six girls!" says Rhiannon, 12DD.
After much deliberation, five finalists were selected from all around Australia — VIC, NSW, WA and QLD. The girls will attend a glamorous photo-shoot today, complete with hair and makeup styling and media interviews, whilst modelling Simone Simone Pérèle's latest Haute couture range for D-H cups, 'Revelation'.
The photographs of each girl will be posted on the Simone Pérèle AUS Facebook page and voting will commence on Monday 5th November. To find out more, head here.
