Gather Your Squad for an Unforgettable Day Out at Just $10 a Ticket

AFLW

Finding new ways to spend time with my inner circle while keeping costs low has always been a big passion point of mine. After discovering AFLW just this season, I soon learned that it’s a gorgeous way to spend a day out with your squad. And the fact that you can score tickets to games in the Final Round for just $10 — the price they’ve been all season long — makes it the ultimate low-cost option.

Here’s how to optimise your day out, so that you can experience the thrills at their fullest.

First thing’s first — scoring tickets

Getting your hands on the tickets for the game is easy as — you can find game dates, times and locations on the official AFLW website. Find one that works for you and everyone in the group chat (possibly the hardest task in this entire endeavour) — and you’ll be on your way! Plus, if you’re under 18 — you can redeem a free ticket.

What to expect

You can expect an electrifying showcase of skill, team spirit and sheer determination from brilliant athletes from the final rounds. And what better way to get your closest friends hyped up and inspired about everything they can achieve?

When you make your way to your local grounds you’ll be met with food stalls, merch tents, activities and activations galore!

The atmosphere is one filled with warmth and excitement, and you’ll feel right at home immediately — even if it’s your first time. It’s obvious that there’s a sense of security and camaraderie that extends from the stands all the way to the pitch. Fans of opposing teams sit side by side, sharing thoughts, victories and beautiful memories.

Then of course, there’s the game itself. A powerful display of skill and sportsmanship from remarkable athletes. These players will have you captivated and feeling empowered to take on anything — and what sounds better than that?

Trust us — these are the plans that’ll actually make it out of the group chat.

What to pack

The first time I attended an AFLW game, I had expected sun, but I wasn’t quite as prepared as even I’d like to think.

Sunscreen: We should all know this by now — no matter what it looks like outside, clouds or not, sunscreen is essential. Slap some on and pack extra to protect your skin from those sneaky UV rays throughout the day.

Picnic essentials: Now — you’ll absolutely find your typical fair foods at the game, but a picnic is always such a cute and cost-effective option! Pack a selection of your favourite snacks and some refreshing bevvies. It’s a great way to save some extra cash and enjoy a delectable spread with your besties.

A picnic blanket or some towels: There are stands you can sit at to enjoy the game, but let me recommend the grass. It’s comfortable, you can spread out, and it means you can see and talk to all your girlies at once.

Memory makers: We all love a camcorder or instant-camera moment — and this is the perfect setting to capture your mates. The energy will be high and vibrant and the smiles will be aplenty — trust us.
