Rosy Cheeks and Neon Eyeliner: The Beauty Looks Seen on the Runway This Fashion Week

At the Auteur runway show on the evening of June 3, models sported neon eyeliner in pink and orange shades on their lower water line.

The show, which took place at mimi’s at the Coogee Pavilion, included models like Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Montana Cox sporting the neon look.

The Auteur runway also treated us to rosy cheeks. Models rocked exaggerated blush and glowy highlighter, making a case for more-is-more when it comes to these products.

On the evening of June 2, KITX took to the runway at AAFW to show its Resort 2022 collection, which is focused on sustainability and protecting our oceans. ghd co-created the hair designs for the show, with ghd’s leading Creative Artist, Pauline McCabe, taking inspiration by this season’s theme (Oceanic Grace) to create a slick style.

To create this look, the models’ clean hair was sprayed down 40 percent with water. The baby hairs were left out to grame the face, while ghd’s Bodyguard Heat Protect Spray ($35) was used throughout the hair.

Then, ghd’s Body Goals Total Volume Foam ($35) was applied liberally as was gel to achieve texture. The hairstylists worked section by section towards the crown, to help activate the hair’s natural texture.

The shape was then diffused using the ghd Professional Hair Dryer Diffuser, before combing through the hair to leave obvious comb marks. The look was gently moulded front and back along the hairline using Redken Rewind 06 and was finished with ghd’s Shiny Ever After Shine Spray ($35).

Bursting with colourful outfits, the Mariam Seddiq runway show on June 2 was a highlight of the week. The makeup seen in the show was pretty subtle but the eyes of the models were adorned with gold beads — taking the place of eyeshadow. Love!

Taking place at the Bambini Trust Restaurant & Wine Room in Sydney, Michael Lo Sordo’s show included models with glittery complexions.

New Zealand label Maggie Marilyn presented its collection, called A Brave New World, at Centennial Homestead in Centennial Park on June 1, where MECCA was also announced as the Official Beauty Partner for AW21. While the clothes were undeniably dreamy, the laid-back beauty had us captivated. Think glossy eyelids, bee-stung lips and softy drawn on freckles.

Models wore bursts of neon on their eyelids at the Daniel Avakian show at Carriageworks on June 2.

The Ginger & Smart show on June 1 saw models donning neon eyelids, natural makeup and pulled back hair.

Bondi Born made a case for bright, bold lips at the designers show, which took place at the Northern Wharf Boardwalk, Circular Quay.

Models took to the runway at the Rebecca Vallance show on May 31 sporting heavily-lined eyes.

The show, called “After Dark”, celebrated Rebecca Vallance’s 10th anniversary with a number of nighttime appropriate frocks and metallic boots.

When it came to makeup, the look was extremely subtle, with the emphasis firmly on the kohl-adorned eyes.

Jordan Dalah opened Afterpay Australian Fashion Week on May 31 with a stunning collection that included floor-length dresses, moody florals and puffy sleeves. We couldn’t get past the statement hair that was seen on the runway, which can be seen here on New Zealand model Georgia Fowler.

The bouffant-esque style stole the beauty show, with makeup taking a firm backseat.

There was little to no colour used in the makeup at the Jordan Dalah show, placing an emphasis on the hair and of course, the clothes.

In true laidback summer fashion, the hair and makeup seen at the Aje show was relaxed. The beauty didn’t compete with the whimsical clothing, instead taking a backseat to the colours that dominated the grassy runway.

The makeup itself was minimal, with dewy skin taking the front seat. Makeup artist Isabella Schimid used a combination of Vanessa Megan Skincare and Biode — a 100 percent natural, plastic-free and zero-waste body care company — to achieve the no-makeup makeup look.

Aje teamed up with Monday Haircare for the resort show and the result was an undone look. Long locks, pixie cuts and braids were seen on a number of models, allowing the models’ own hair texture to dictate their individual style for the show.
