The Wet Hair Bun Trend Requires No Styling Skills Whatsoever, So It’s Perfect For Summer

This summer’s biggest hair trends are all about comfort and ease. After all, when you’re already wearing a face mask every time you walk out the door, you don’t want to be fussing with your hair, too. That means this season, to keep our hair back and out of our faces, we’re shamelessly leaning into effortless styles like ponytails, braids, and – last but not least – buns.

Face coverings, a lack of hair appointments, and the humidity will all play a role in this summer’s trends. These updo hairstyles aren’t anything new or groundbreaking, but they’re definitely not the styles you’re used to. The wet bun hairstyle, in particular, is a lot chicer than your daytime or post-workout messy bun but still low-key.

All you need to pull off this look are a hair tie, some hair gel, and a brush. “If your flyaways are harder to control than you expected, just brush gel along your hairline to control the style with a comb or boar-bristle brush,” Devin Toth, NYC-based hairstylist at Salon SCK, told POPSUGAR. “Don’t be afraid to use a generous amount of gel because it is, after all, supposed to look wet. I would finish this look with a dry oil finishing spray to keep the sheen lasting all day.”

There you have it: effortless, easy, quick, and, most importantly, off the back of your neck. Keep scrolling for wet bun hairstyle inspiration.
