As the cooler weather begins to set in, it’s time to start thinking about our autumn and winter wardrobes. You might be wondering what will be trending over the next few months? And more importantly, what is actually worth investing in?

Luckily, here in Australia, we have the benefit of foresight, as our friends across the equator experience the seasons six months ahead. This means we can often look to street style or social media as a crystal ball of sorts in order to predict what trends are set to emerge.

From New York to London, Paris to Milan, you only have to look as far as international fashion weeks to understand the trends chic women globally decided to champion over their winter season. (If you’re looking for a bolder sense of style then Copenhagen Fashion Week also offers a plethora of inspiration.) While we might not experience weather quite as drastic as New York’s snowstorms or London’s icy temps, ideas can still be gleaned from these cities in order to get a sense of the shades and silhouettes set to be in high demand for the season ahead.

So, what are the autumn and winter trends worth looking forward to? Dopamine dressing is still going strong, as we’ve seen the street style set invest heavily in bold shades of pink, green and Pantone’s colour of the year, Very Peri. When it comes to outerwear, quilted coats have been the item of choice among editors and influencers, while on the knitwear front, cut-out detailing and shrunken silhouettes have emerged as the hero trends.
