At previous Olympic Games, we’ve been treated to a plethora of memorable beauty looks. From Michelle Jenneke’s trademark high ponytail and ribbon combination to Flo-Jo’s patriotic nails at the 1988 Games, the personal touches made to one’s Olympic uniform are always welcome sights to see.
The easiest way for many athletes to insert their personality into their appearance is often through nail art. While gymnasts can style their hair and wear makeup, other athletes like swimmers and divers aren’t able to.
Athletes competing in the Tokyo Olympics have brought their A-game when it comes to nail art, with many wearing team colours or integrating patterns into their designs. Here are some of our favourite manicures seen at the Olympics so far.

While watching the Women’s 400m Freestyle Final on July 26, we noticed a hint of glitter on Ariarne Titmus’ nails. That’s right — Titmus won gold while rocking a glittery manicure and we couldn’t love her anymore for this personal choice. On closer inspection (if you zoom in super-duper close), it seems like the glitter is actually gold coloured — a nod to her hopeful win, perhaps? Either way, we’re obsessed with this small statement and you can see every angle of the mani below.
