Anne Hathaway stopped by The Daily Show this week to continue promoting Les Misérables ahead of this week's Critics' Choice Awards and the Golden Globes. Though Hathaway hasn't been shy about mentioning how depressing Les Mis is, she admitted that the cast did have a few laughs on the set. Watch as Hathaway discusses the surprising scene that had her giggling mid-song, much to the confusion of her co-stars.
What a week! It started off on a bit of a sad note, with news of Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer's split breaking on Monday — he was spotted just two days later on the set of his new film, Noah. On happier notes, though, there were plenty of parties and cute romances playing right under our noses — the Elle Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration drew as big a crowd as ever, with stars like Robert Pattinson, Emma Watson, Emma Stone and more turning up to show their support. Katy Perry and John Mayer went on what looked to be a hot date for his 35th birthday — are they or aren't they?! — and smash-hit Aussie film The Sapphires debuted at the London Film Festival. But that's not even close to all of it — click through the gallery to catch up on all the action as it happened this week!
Actors, comedians, talk show hosts and musicians came together for the Comedy Central’s ‘A Night of Too Many Stars’ benefit in NYC on Saturday night. Hosted by Jon Stewart, the talent line-up included Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who auctioned themselves off to be BFFs to the highest bidders, Kevin Bacon and Liev Schreiber, who dressed up as butter and broccoli respectively, and Seth Rogen, who raised $18,000 each from two audience members who paid to go to the bathroom at the same time as him. Carly Rae Jepsen was also on hand to perform her hit “Call Me Maybe,” and Katy Perry sang “Firework” to the accompaniment of a young autistic girl playing the piano, providing the night’s most touching moment.
Robert Pattinson Puts On a Happy Face — But Avoids Ice Cream — Talking Kristen Scandal On The Daily Show
Robert Pattinson stopped by The Daily Show With Jon Stewart yesterday before attending the NYC premiere of Cosmopolis decked out in slick blue Gucci suit. It was Robert's first day of publicity for the movie since his girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, was caught cheating with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Jon Stewart managed to talk around the elephant in the room, offering Robert Pattinson ice cream and "girl talk." Robert avoided actually digging into his Karma Sutra, joking that he didn't want to bust through his two pairs of spanx.
Jon did lend his support, though, saying that he knows break-ups can feel like the end of the world. Robert responded, "it is," though he didn't confirm or deny an actual split from Kristen. Check out the whole interview and stay tuned for lots more Robert this week — he's ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange tomorrow and also has appearances lined up on Good Morning America and MTV.
Kristen Stewart joins her On the Road costars Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley for a photo spread inside US Marie Claire's September issue. Miley Cyrus posed for the cover, while Kristen and the boys teamed up for a few key promotional shots. The images were taken in May during the Cannes Film Festival, where Kristen was promoting her Jack Kerouac adaption and boyfriend Robert Pattinson was celebrating the Cosmopolis world premiere, which she also attended. Since then, things have taken a dramatic turn for the couple. Last month photos of Kristen cheating with Rupert Sanders shocked fans, and she's remained in hiding ever since. As for Robert, he temporarily moved out of their shared residence and relocated to Reese Witherspoon's Ojai estate; he'll make his first public appearances since news of the scandal when he visits The Daily Show With Jon Stewart on Monday and Good Morning America on Wednesday.
Last night's Emmy Awards show took place at LA's Nokia Theater, with Modern Family leading the pack by garnering five wins during the telecast alone! Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen received accolades for their individual performances, and they took their newly acquired gold into the press room. More stars who were honoured for their work answered questions from reporters, including Mildred Pierce's Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce, The Good Wife's Julianna Marguiles, and Mike and Molly's Melissa McCarthy. Series winners Mad Men and Modern Family had their whole casts up on the podium to chat about their wins. Actors from Mad Men admitted to missing new mum January Jones, who skipped the big night, since she just welcomed son Xander a few days ago. Show creator Matthew Weiner said, "She's home with her baby, John Slattery says. Her baby had his fingers crossed, she told me that. And she said it was really weird that we were going to be here without her, and we miss her terribly."
Jon Hamm was the guest of honour last night at a dinner hosted for him by the editors of Details in NYC. He's on the cover of the magazine's October issue solo, but he made the rounds at the party with his girlfriend, Jennifer Westfeldt, and caught up with SNL funny people like Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig. This morning, the Mad Men star was back on the promotional circuit to chat up his movie The Town ahead of its US release tomorrow. He swung by the Regis and Kelly studios to record an interview that airs tomorrow. Jon also had time yesterday to pay a visit to Jon Stewart at The Daily Show—check out their funny exchange after the jump.
