Aussies Celebrate the Oscars at the Show and Parties

Our five Australian hopefuls went home empty-handed from the Oscars yesterday — Hugh Jackman for best actor, Naomi Watts for best actress, Jacki Weaver for best supporting actress, Rick Findlater for achievement in hair and makeup design for The Hobbit, and Dave Clayton for visual effects, also for The Hobbit — but that didn't stop them from enjoying and partaking in Hollywood's night of nights.

Hugh took to the stage with Russell Crowe and the rest of the Les Misérables cast to perform a medley of songs during the show's musical tribute, and Nicole Kidman also got up in front of the star-studded audience to introduce some of the best picture nominees. There were also a handful of Aussies scattered around the many parties that were thrown yesterday, including Miranda Kerr, Ryan Kwanten and Isla Fisher.

Nicole Kidman Sparkles in Black and Gold at the Oscars

Nicole Kidman made a dramatic choice today, wearing a L'Wren Scott gown to the Oscars.

Nicole Kidman made a dramatic choice today, wearing a L'Wren Scott gown to the Oscars. She's been a familiar face on red carpets this awards season. She was nominated — but did not win — for her work in The Paperboy and Hemingway & Gellhorn at the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes. Nicole also made the trip back to Australia for the AACTA Awards. It hasn't been all about Nicole and her work, though, as she also accompanied her musician husband, Keith Urban, to the Grammys. Most recently, Nicole was in London for the UK premiere of her latest film, Stoker. All the jet-setting is on hold for today, as Nicole preps to present at the Oscars. While not in the running for her films in 2013, she did memorably win in 2003 for The Hours. Weigh in on Nicole's look in our Oscars red carpet fashion and beauty polls.

It's been a busy week in celebrity land, with the Grammys kicking things off in serious style on Monday.

It's been a busy week in celebrity land, with the Grammys kicking things off in serious style on Monday. Rihanna wowed the crowds on the red carpet, and rightly so — she looked spectacular — while Katy Perry had Ellen DeGeneres' attention in particular (again, probably rightly so). On Thursday came Valentine's Day, and many celebs stepped out with their partners to celebrate the day of love. Nicole Kidman ad Keith Urban were coordinated in low-key black outfits and Katy Perry set tongues wagging (again) with one particular accessory on her finger. Actresses Support Their Musical Beaus at the Grammy Awards

The red carpet at the Grammy Awards was filled with beautiful, talented ladies including Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Katy Perry, but there were some high-profile women who opted to skip the media wall and headed straight inside.

The red carpet at the Grammy Awards was filled with beautiful, talented ladies including Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Katy Perry, but there were some high-profile women who opted to skip the media wall and headed straight inside. Why would Carey Mulligan, Jessica Biel and Lena Dunham miss another photo opportunity? Perhaps because the actresses were simply there to support their musical beaus, who were either nominated or performed, or both. Jessica had a front row seat next to Jay-Z to watch her husband, JT, perform two songs from his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience, and Carey was in the audience when her husband Marcus Mumford sang with his group Mumford & Sons. Lena was thrilled when her guitarist boyfriend Jack Antonoff, from the band fun., won an award, and just weeks after she thanked him in her Golden Globes speech he returned the favour. Nicole and Keith Catch Up With Faith and Tim at the Grammys

Nicole Kidman wore gold Vera Wang to accompany her husband Keith Urban to the Grammys in LA today.

Nicole Kidman wore gold Vera Wang to accompany her husband Keith Urban to the Grammys in LA today. Both Keith and Nicole have been fixtures at awards season so far — she was up for two Golden Globes thanks to her small screen work in Hemingway & Gellhorn and her big screen work in The Paperboy. Today, though, is all about Keith, one of the show's presenters. He's not nominated this year, but he's won plenty of Grammys before. He has a total of four, and most recently won best male country vocal performance for "'Til Summer Comes Around" in 2011. The fun has already started for Nicole and Keith — they caught up with pals Faith Hill and Tim McGraw on their way inside the Staples Center.

Nicole Kidman and Her Girls Wrap Up a Busy Awards Season Weekend

Nicole Kidman and her kids caught a flight out of LA yesterday after a hectic awards season weekend.

Nicole Kidman and her kids caught a flight out of LA yesterday after a hectic awards season weekend. Nicole held hands with her daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret as they made their way through LAX to hop on a plane for Sydney ahead of tonight's AACTA Awards. Nicole's husband Keith Urban was on hand to greet his girls when they landed at Sydney Airport — his daughters gave him big hugs as he kissed Nicole. Russell Crowe, host of the AACTAs, was also there with them.

Nicole had a full schedule in Hollywood over the weekend, attending the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday and the SAG Awards on Sunday. At the latter event, Nicole was nominated in two categories. She was up for outstanding female actor in a TV movie or miniseries for Hemingway & Gellhorn, but lost to Julianne Moore. Nicole also was in the running for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role for her work in The Paperboy, and was bested by winner Anne Hathaway, who has been sweeping that category at award shows over the past few weeks. Award or no award, Nicole still has plenty of filming to keep her busy over the next year. She's currently working on the new Grace Kelly biopic, Grace of Monaco, and is set to star in Before I Go to Sleep, the upcoming film adaptation of S.J. Watson's popular thriller.

When American Idol comes back for its 12th season this month — and screens in Australia just hours after its US premiere on Network Ten on Jan.

When American Idol comes back for its 12th season this month — and screens in Australia just hours after its US premiere on Network Ten on Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. — there will be a lot more to talk about than the contestants. New judges Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have joined the panel, and rumours have been swirling about a supposed feud between Carey and Minaj. When the new panel, plus veterans Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest, came to TCA earlier this month to talk about the new season of Idol, they did nothing to dispel the feud rumour. But amid the talk of conflict, we did learn some other things about the new season, like whether we'll see more country or rap because of the talent on the judges' panel.

Check out what the judges had to say when you keep reading.
