Katy Perry stopped to pose for photos with the classic Lacoste alligator today as she arrived at the Lacoste L!ve Coachella party. Katy, who has been making the rounds at the festival this weekend, donned a tropical-themed bra top and miniskirt by Dolce & Gabbana to the soiree; she even carried a matching pineapple purse. Last night, she took in some music at Coachella with her friends Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Today, Katy was one of several recording artists and musicians at the Lacoste event, where Alexa Chung manned the turntables and Rita Ora relaxed in the shade. Meanwhile, Chris Pine, Victoria's Secret angel Alessandra Ambrosio, and The Carrie Diaries actress AnnaSophia Robb lounged in a cabana together during the hot desert afternoon, and brothers Joe and Nick Jonas stayed cool in hats and shades as they made the rounds. Lacoste's collection for Fall 2013 supplied clothing perfect for the blizzard that NYC just endured. While we love the voluminous outerwear designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista sent out — some were even printed with icebergs — the most notable aspect of the collection was his cool use of colour-blocking. For example, long coats featured geometric blocks of mostly subdued greens, blues, blacks, which were then paired against one very bright pop of orange. It was a streamlined revival of the '80s colour-block trend, albeit refreshed with a modern twist. Fitting then that the Lacoste Fall '13 show notes described this lineup as "tomorrow's vision of yesterday," and there's no better way to understand this mood than through its best pieces. If the snow outside wasn't enough for NYFW attendees, Felipe Oliveira Baptista provided a few snowflakes of his own for Lacoste's Fall runway show this morning at Lincoln Center. As fake snow blew into the audience, Oliveira Baptista set the tone for his sporty chic ski-inspired line. Mixing in the old — Oliveira Baptista referenced uniforms the brand designed for France's 1966 national ski team — with the new, the designer conceived a smart mix of body-conscious pieces fitting for any après-ski occasion. One can easily head to the slopes, or to the cabin, in one of Oliveira Baptista's rugby-meets-ski minidresses and jumpsuits or sport-striped leggings paired with chic oversized parkas and coats. Leather quilted vests and jackets injected a luxurious touch to the overt sportif theme. With a play on fashionable function, Oliveira Baptista experimented with zippers, some of which opened up all the way up to the shoulders to replicate the look of a cardigan tossed over your shoulder, while others served as pockets for hoods disguised as a stylish oversized collar.
