Katy Perry stopped to pose for photos with the classic Lacoste alligator today as she arrived at the Lacoste L!ve Coachella party. Katy, who has been making the rounds at the festival this weekend, donned a tropical-themed bra top and miniskirt by Dolce & Gabbana to the soiree; she even carried a matching pineapple purse. Last night, she took in some music at Coachella with her friends Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Today, Katy was one of several recording artists and musicians at the Lacoste event, where Alexa Chung manned the turntables and Rita Ora relaxed in the shade. Meanwhile, Chris Pine, Victoria's Secret angel Alessandra Ambrosio, and The Carrie Diaries actress AnnaSophia Robb lounged in a cabana together during the hot desert afternoon, and brothers Joe and Nick Jonas stayed cool in hats and shades as they made the rounds. Lacoste's collection for Fall 2013 supplied clothing perfect for the blizzard that NYC just endured. While we love the voluminous outerwear designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista sent out — some were even printed with icebergs — the most notable aspect of the collection was his cool use of colour-blocking. For example, long coats featured geometric blocks of mostly subdued greens, blues, blacks, which were then paired against one very bright pop of orange. It was a streamlined revival of the '80s colour-block trend, albeit refreshed with a modern twist. Fitting then that the Lacoste Fall '13 show notes described this lineup as "tomorrow's vision of yesterday," and there's no better way to understand this mood than through its best pieces. Keep clicking to see them now.
Lea Michele turned 26 yesterday! Even though she plays the super-preppy, rather uptight Rachel Berry on Glee, Lea loves flaunting off her toned figure — especially her legs — in real life. On or off the red carpet, she's never shied away from showing off her stems, whether with shorts, minis, or thigh-high slits. In honour of her big day, we're paying homage to Lea's fashion fearlessness by highlighting 26 of her sexiest mini moments. Click through to see them all now — and happy birthday, Lea!
If the snow outside wasn't enough for NYFW attendees, Felipe Oliveira Baptista provided a few snowflakes of his own for Lacoste's Fall runway show this morning at Lincoln Center. As fake snow blew into the audience, Oliveira Baptista set the tone for his sporty chic ski-inspired line. Mixing in the old — Oliveira Baptista referenced uniforms the brand designed for France's 1966 national ski team — with the new, the designer conceived a smart mix of body-conscious pieces fitting for any après-ski occasion. One can easily head to the slopes, or to the cabin, in one of Oliveira Baptista's rugby-meets-ski minidresses and jumpsuits or sport-striped leggings paired with chic oversized parkas and coats. Leather quilted vests and jackets injected a luxurious touch to the overt sportif theme. With a play on fashionable function, Oliveira Baptista experimented with zippers, some of which opened up all the way up to the shoulders to replicate the look of a cardigan tossed over your shoulder, while others served as pockets for hoods disguised as a stylish oversized collar. More details from the collection below.
- Trends: Oversized parkas, colour-block, sporty zipper accents.
- Colours: Blue, red, off-white, grey, navy blue, black.
- Key Piece: We loved the oversized parka jackets and luxurious quilted leather jackets and vests.
- Accessories: Leather platform boots, wool and leather bucket bags, snow goggles/sunglasses, leather gloves.
- Who Would Wear It: Anyone looking for a sporty play on Winterwear.
Felipe Oliveira Baptista redefined the term "sport chic" today for his debut as the creative director of French sportif brand Lacoste at New York Fashion Week. From beginning to end, Batista pulled us into his zone offering up a bevy of polished sportswear via silk anoraks, sexy silk dresses, bold colourblocked dresses and louche silk blouses. Crisp jackets and tunic length tops were perfectly tailored and refreshing layering techniques, like pairing a collared pinafore-inspired dress over a cropped top, drew us in even more. Geo-print pieces, we especially loved the turquoise and cobalt blue long sleeved printed dress, hit all the right notes on this season's popular sport trend. Check out more highlights from the collection below.
- Trends: Silk utilitarian ponchos and anoraks, crop tops, colourblock dresses.
- Colours: Red, blue, black, sunshine yellow, white.
- Key Look: Any of the silk ponchos and printed pieces.
- Accessories: Two-tone sandals, sporty sunglasses.
- Who Would Wear It: Chic prepsters or girls looking for a modern spin on classic sportswear.
Coachella music festival holds a special place on the Fab calendar, as it's a festival of fashion as much as it music (for us, anyway!). Step inside to check out all the fashionable peeps partying down.
Wherever there's fragrance, there's an ambassador. Be it models like Lara Stone or celebs like the newly-appointed Diane Kruger, Alexa Chung and Clive Owen. As soon as we heard about each of these recent signings, we danced around. We can't wait to see what I'm sure will be some ah-mazing ad campaigns, but tell us, who were you most excited to hear will be fronting a fragrance campaign soon?
It's been quite a week for the ol' celeb signings with two of my favourite girls snapped up fragrance contracts. First Natalie Portman was unveiled as the new face of Parfums Christian Dior and now little Miss Alexa Chung has entered the ring.
The TV presenter, fashionista and all-round cool cat was yesterday announced as the frontwoman for Lacoste's newest women's scent. Details were thin on the ground but it's said to be launching early 2011. She's the first celeb to front a fragrance campaign for the preppy brand. I'm glad that we get to see more of my BFF Lex, but I can't decide if I like the fit or not. I'd have liked to see her do something with Kaiser Karl and Chanel, you?
Those celebrities don't mess around y'know. The last few days has seen a flurry of activity on the celebrity fragrance terrain. Friday witnessed a double whammy with both Kimora Lee Simmons and Celine Dion unveiling their new fragrances on the same day. A heartbeat later, Jennifer Aniston announced that the name of her much anticipated new scent would be Lola Vie, which apparently loosely translates to mean "laughing at life." Around the same time Andy Roddick was named as the new face of Lacoste's latest fragrance. News, glorious news. Which one are you most excited about?
In 1980, Lacoste launched its first eyewear collection with a pilot-style frame called '101' released as the hero product. The Lacoste 101 featured premium quality materials with unique styling reflecting the brand's tennis heritage, making it a hit on and off the court.
To mark the 30th anniversary of the aviator frames, Lacoste is releasing a limited edition run of 1000 pairs to be sold all over the world this month. 64 coveted frames have been picked up by Australian stores, certain to fly off shelves quicker than you can say "c'mooon".
