Leonardo DiCaprio Suits Up in Seoul For Django Unchained

Leonardo DiCaprio brought Django Unchained to Seoul yesterday for an afternoon of press and a red carpet premiere.

Leonardo DiCaprio brought Django Unchained to Seoul yesterday for an afternoon of press and a red carpet premiere. He is currently in the middle of an Asian press tour for the film, which most recently took him to Japan. There, he thrilled a Japanese interviewer with his Jack Nicholson impression. When asked if he does any celebrity impressions, Leo explained that he does "Jack Nicholson eyebrows" and proceeded to mimic his Departed co-star's famous visage.

Promoting movies isn't the only thing Leo has been doing in Asia. He has been campaigning hard with the World Wildlife Foundation to ban the ivory trade, and recently secured a victory when the prime minister of Thailand agreed to stop the sale of ivory earlier this week. Leo tweeted, "Thanks to all 1.4 million of you that called on Thailand to end the ivory trade."

Django Unchained, Ted and Jennifer Lawrence Lead the 2013 MTV Movie Awards Nominations

Awards season isn't over yet!

Awards season isn't over yet! This year the MTV Movie Awards will be held in April, instead of the customary June, so we're getting nominations early. Leading the pack are Django Unchained and Ted, each with seven nominations. Jennifer Lawrence — whose turn in The Hunger Games last year earned her best female performance — received a total of five nods, most of which were for Silver Linings Playbook, but she's also squaring off against her Oscar competitor Jessica Chastain for Best Scared-as-Sh*t Performance for House at the End of the Street. Noticeably down on nominations? Breaking Dawn Part 2, which only earned one for Taylor Lautner's shirtless scenes.

One of our favourite films of the year, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, garnered four nominations, including nods for Emma Watson and Ezra Miller. Pitch Perfect also earned four, with one for Rebel Wilson, who will be hosting this year's ceremony on April 15.

To see the nominees, just keep reading.

2013 SAG Awards: Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington's SAGs gown is a clever mix of the hard and the soft.

Kerry Washington's SAGs gown is a clever mix of the hard and the soft. The Django Unchained star opted for directional yet pretty number from Rodarte; the delicate lace edging and beaded embellishment softening the finish of her structured bodice gown. A silver-edged snakeskin box clutch, black jet and diamond cocktail ring and diamond-drop earrings pulled the tonal look together. All in favour, say aye. . .

Django Unchained: Tarantino Delivers Another Instant Classic

In Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino mines the Western genre and a chapter of painful American history for a violent story of revenge and a tale of one of the most enjoyable friendships seen on the big screen.

In Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino mines the Western genre and a chapter of painful American history for a violent story of revenge and a tale of one of the most enjoyable friendships seen on the big screen. Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz play title character Django and bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz, respectively, who meet when Schultz frees and recruits the enslaved Django to help him track down his latest targets. The two team up, and when Django confesses his plan to find his enslaved wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), Schultz takes an interest in his tragic love story and decides to help Django find her. It's a surprisingly tender setup for the murderous adventures to come, and that juxtaposition is just one of the many crazy delights of Django Unchained.

Leonardo DiCaprio also stars as Calvin Candie, who owns a grand plantation called Candyland and who happens to be the current owner of Broomhilda. With his flamboyant dress, love of French culture, and charisma, Calvin is full of personality and is completely unpredictable. Calvin's far from the only dynamic character, though; each of Django's major players make this film as exciting as it is brutal. In exploring a new genre, Tarantino has created yet another mind-blowing, distinctive film. Find out what else makes this movie a must see after the jump.

Kerry Washington Doesn't Short on the Wow Factor For Django Unchained

The majority of the Hollywood crowd may be lying low on their respective getaways, but Kerry Washington is still hard at work promoting Django Unchained — and with a statement-making dress, she's hardly staying under the radar.

The majority of the Hollywood crowd may be lying low on their respective getaways, but Kerry Washington is still hard at work promoting Django Unchained — and with a statement-making dress, she's hardly staying under the radar. For the film's photocall in Rome, Kerry selected a bold Peter Pilotto sheath that showcased three major Spring '13 trends in just one go, giving us ruffles, print, and cut-outs. With so much happening on her dress, Kerry astutely played down the rest, finishing with a pair of navy pumps and hardly any jewels, save for a single cocktail ring. Pilotto's confections never short on the wow factor, and it's always refreshing to see an actress who isn't afraid to experiment a little on the red carpet, but now we're turning it over to you. Was this a fashion risk worth taking, or do you wish Kerry had opted for something a little more understated?

Leonardo DiCaprio Debuts Django in NYC With Cameron Diaz's Support

Leonardo DiCaprio debuted Django Unchained in NYC yesterday.

Leonardo DiCaprio debuted Django Unchained in NYC yesterday. Leo was joined by his co-stars Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as director Quentin Tarantino, on the red carpet. Leo, who is currently filming The Wolf of Wall Street, also celebrated alongside pals Olivia Wilde, John Legend, Liv Tyler and Cameron Diaz. Leo and Cameron have been seeing a lot of each other lately, as they were spotted celebrating for charity in NYC back in November.

Django's premiere came just ahead of this morning's SAG nominations. Despite all the awards season buzz around the film, it received zero nominations. Nonetheless, early reviews for Django Unchained are excellent. Australian audiences will get to see Quentin's latest for themselves when it's released on Jan. 24.

Django Unchained Trailer: Tarantino Pits Jamie Foxx Against Leonardo DiCaprio

Quentin Tarantino doesn't seem like the most likely director to take on a Western, but in the trailer for Django Unchained, it's clear that this movie is no traditional Western.

Quentin Tarantino doesn't seem like the most likely director to take on a Western, but in the trailer for Django Unchained, it's clear that this movie is no traditional Western. Sure, everything seems conventional when we meet Django (Jamie Foxx), trudging in chains while a mournful Johnny Cash tune plays. But when he's recruited by bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) to help find outlaws, things get decidedly Tarantinian. Cue the soul music as Schultz and Django's journey leads them to plantation owner Calvin Candie, who's played by a curly-haired, Southern-drawling Leonardo DiCaprio.

DiCaprio is pretty cartoonish as what we suspect is the movie's villain, and his performance is my main reason for wanting to see this movie — which is saying a lot since I love Tarantino's work. I don't know whether this will top his last effort, the incredible Inglourious Basterds, but I'm excited to find out when the movie comes out in Australia on Jan. 24, 2013. Watch the trailer and let me know what you think after the jump.
