With a responsibility to promote his Broadway production Romeo and Juliet and his big screen return as Legolas in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Orlando Bloom has done lots of press following the news in late October that he and Miranda Kerr had formalised their separation. It means that he has been the main voice for the former couple in dealing with questions about their current relationship status — following the split the two were spotted looking friendly in NYC with their son, Flynn, multiple times — saying that they “love each other. We’re a family, and we’re going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives.”
Now Miranda has opened up on the topic in the January/February issue of Harper’s Bazaar (on sale now), echoing what Orlando has stated before. Miranda told the magazine, “It’s difficult for anyone to go through a separation, whether it’s on a public scale or not. It was very important for us long-term to preserve our friendship and the dynamic of being loving parents to Flynn so we dealt with everything openly and honestly. We respect each other and with respect comes understanding. When there’s understanding, I guess everything is a little more harmonious.” She also revealed that the family of three will still be a unit at Christmas because she and Orlando are “trying to do our best to support each other.”
Orlando Bloom and Benedict Cumberbatch: they brought the sexiness factor to the LA premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on Monday evening. Orlando, who took a break from his Broadway play, Romeo and Juliet, chatted with his co-star Evangeline Lilly on the red carpet. Unfortunately for Sherlock fans, Benedict did not pose with his co-star and Hobbit star Martin Freeman, who was busy on the red carpet with his partner, Amanda Abbington. However, fans will have more than their fair share of Benedict-Martin time as Sherlock season three premieres in the US on Jan. 19.
While Orlando looked like he was having fun on the red carpet with his movie co-stars, his reunion with estranged wife Miranda Kerr set fans abuzz over the weekend. Miranda and Orlando took Flynn out for a walk in NYC on Saturday, with the tiny tot shaking around a play sword while being carried in Orlando's arms. While the two aren't together, they have been meeting up on what looks like friendly terms in the Big Apple as they divide their time with Flynn.
Miranda Kerr rugged up in a tough all-black look on Sunday to drop her two-year-old son Flynn off at his dad Orlando Bloom’s NYC apartment so the boys could spend quality time together. Despite announcing their separation in October, Miranda and Orlando have stayed true to their word of continuing to be a family unit for the sake of their son, and the three spent the Thanksgiving holiday together. However, the former couple’s relationship made headlines again over the weekend with reports that Miranda is dating businessman and casino mogul James Packer, who split from his wife Erica Packer earlier this year. According to Woman’s Day, which published the source article today, Miranda and James’ relationship developed during secret overseas trips.
Though Miranda and Orlando announced their separation in October, the former couple has clearly been keeping their relationship on good terms. They've both been busy working in the Big Apple — Orlando on Broadway and Miranda on various photo shoots — but are making sure to spend time together for the sake of their little boy. As Orlando said about the split late last month, "We love each other. We're a family and we're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives."
Thanks to his Broadway debut in a revival of Romeo and Juliet, Orlando Bloom is staying put in NYC for the next few months. And that means plenty more father-son dates between the actor and his two-year-old boy Flynn when he’s not hitting the stage. Having just split from wife Miranda Kerr, Orlando's taken to the streets and parks with Flynn for regular activities like playing on the swings and walking Orlando’s adopted black Saluki mix, Sidi. On Sunday they were spotted in matching grey coats in Manhattan, and later that day Orlando took his mini-me to watch his performance.
From his early days as a father, Orlando has gushed about the experience. When Flynn was just months old, the Pirates of the Caribbean star said of parenthood, “It’s awesome, I love it. I hate that word but I love being a father; it’s changed everything in so many ways.” He’s been hands-on from the start, so check out some of his sweetest moments with Flynn — with many more to come!

Miranda Kerr coordinated with her cute little one, Flynn, during the pair's Big Apple outing on Saturday. Sporting leather jackets, the sweet mother-son duo walked around NYC together following Miranda's trip overseas. Last week, the model jetted to Japan for a fashionable bash to celebrate her Elle Japan cover with Michael Kors. The event took place on the same night as the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, and although the former Angel had been asked to walk in the show, she had to skip out because of her trip to Asia.
Although Miranda couldn't make it, she showed her support for the rest of the Angels by posting a throwback picture on Instagram of herself with Doutzen Kroes and Alessandra Ambrosio. The photo triggered some backlash, though, with fans pointing out that the picture had been Photoshopped, but Miranda cleared the air with another Instagram post, explaining that she'd taken a screenshot from the Internet and hadn't realized that it was an altered picture. She added, "Sorry for all the confusion and congratulations to the girls for such a great show!"
Flynn's time with Miranda came after a fun day in the city with his dad, Orlando Bloom, on Friday. The actor carried Flynn on his shoulders, while the little one held on to a sword, and the two laughed together as they walked around NYC. Orlando has been busy on Broadway lately, taking the stage for Romeo and Juliet, but he enjoyed a solo night out last week when he attended the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. Orlando and Miranda have both been busy with work since their breakup, but they've stayed on great terms. He opened up about their split late last month, saying, "We love each other. We're a family and we're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives."
With so many star-studded events on this week, we wouldn't be surprised if some of them hadn't made it onto your radar! Don't worry, though — we've got all the pictures you need to see in this gallery. From Miley Cyrus lighting up a joint on stage (girl knows how to get attention) and major movie premieres, to a Miranda-less Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and a cute dad-and-son outing, there was plenty to keep us entertained through the week. Aussie starlets lit up the black carpet at a sexy party in Sydney, Katy Perry set tongues wagging thanks to a certain accessory she was rocking, and Jesinta Campbell was in fine form at a lunch-time soiree. When it comes to his professional life, though, things are on the up-and-up for Orlando. He is still hitting the stage seven nights a week in the Broadway production of Romeo and Juliet, and the trailers for his latest film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, were released this week. Orlando reprises his role as Legolas in the second installment in the series, which comes out on Dec. 26.
In terms of celebrity events and Aussie-centric news, it's been a pretty massive week to keep up with! First came the sad news that Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom have parted ways after six years together — but what got people talking the most was that the pair were spotted hanging out together the next day. Kim Kardashian celebrated her 33rd birthday in style, Katy Perry hit Sydney (and the shops!) and Princess Mary and Prince Frderik wrapped up their whirldwind trip Down Under during the week. And let's not forget the celebrity pregnancy announcement, a new couple making their first appearance together, and Angelina Jolie hanging out on the Gold Coast! There's plenty more to see, click through to catch up.
