This year's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia was closed out in the most stylish of ways last night — with a runway party to welcome Elle magazine to the Australian media fold. Lara Bingle, Gracie Otto, Sam Worthington, Jesinta Campbell (and many more stars) joined newly-appointed editor-in-chief, Justine Cullen — formerly of Shop 'Til You Drop magazine — as she officially launched the magazine with a runway show featuring designs from the likes of Collette Dinnigan, Josh Goot and Zimmermann. Model, singer and TV presenter Erika Heynatz also joined the party — she took to the runway to sing Kylie Minogue's "Confide In Me" in French, to loud applause. Elle Australia's first issue will be on sale in late September; in the meantime, check out all the pictures from the extravagant welcoming party!

Chris Hemsworth and Jennifer Hawkins Help Foxtel Launch Its Big Year of TV

There was lots of star power at Foxtel’s 2013 programming launch held at Fox Studios in Sydney last night.

There was lots of star power at Foxtel’s 2013 programming launch held at Fox Studios in Sydney last night. Foxtel ambassador Chris Hemsworth, in a Zegna suit, flew in with his wife, Elsa Pataky, and baby daughter, India Rose, for the event, and charmed a group of media, TV personalities and executives as host for the night’s festivities. When the official proceedings had wrapped up and the floor opened to drinks and canapés (cooked up by new Foxtel star Matt Moran’s ARIA team), Chris stuck around to mingle with guests including Sam Worthington, and with his approachable nature many people had a quick chat with him and asked for photos, which he happily posed for.

A slew of Foxtel talent took to the stage to present some of the pay TV provider’s big plans for 2013, including CEO Richard Freudenstein, Deborah Hutton, and the cast of Wentworth, Foxtel’s 10-part modern day version of the iconic ’70s-’80s show Prisoner. Jennifer Hawkins, who looked stunning in Thierry Mugler, was the last to present her show, the eighth season of Australia’s Next Top Model, which started production this week. She was also joined on stage by 25 of the show’s finalists, who closed out the official part of the night by strutting off, runway-style.

More announcements from the night include production of a new drama series, Devil’s Playground, the season six premiere of Mad Men on April 8 on Showcase (the Australian home of HBO shows such as Girls, Game of Thrones and True Blood), exciting new lifestyle programs, and a great range of films on Foxtel’s movie channels.

Nearly 100,000 people made their way to The Domain in Sydney yesterday for the 2013 Tropfest Film Festival, and among them were some of Australia’s most recognisable stars of film and TV.

Nearly 100,000 people made their way to The Domain in Sydney yesterday for the 2013 Tropfest Film Festival, and among them were some of Australia’s most recognisable stars of film and TV. Sam Worthington returned home to sit on a celebrity judging panel that included Rebecca Gibney, The Sapphires director Wayne Blair, Magda Szubanski and Rake star Richard Roxburgh, and he was the one who handed out the top prize at the world’s largest short film festival to filmmaker Nicholas Clifford for the short We’ve All Been There. Sam also created an award last night for best personality in a documentary, pledging $3,000 to 86-year-old Raymond Borzelli, the dancing, busking subject of Better Than Sinatra.

The 2013 Tropfest Film Festival marked the end of an era at The Domain, with Tropfest founder John Polson announcing the location will move to Centennial Park. And while the rain held out last night, to beat February’s seasonal climate the date for future festivals will be brought forward to December, with the next one being staged on Dec. 8 this year.

Celebrities were busy all around the world — including Sydney, which hosted a slew of international and Aussie stars for the launch of Marquee at The Star — with work and personal commitments this week. Jennifer Lawrence continued her Hunger Games press tour with a fan event in Madrid, and Sam Worthington took his girlfriend Crystal Humphries to the world premiere of Wrath of the Titans in NYC. Busy mums Miranda Kerr and Sarah Jessica Parker held their little ones — Flynn and Marion respectively — while on the move, while Beyoncé was without baby Blue Ivy for a brightly-dressed outing in Manhattan. Selena Gomez, meanwhile, has been hanging with (a barely recognisable) James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson on the Florida set of Spring Breakers, which Selena said was the “craziest experience but amazing” on Facebook. There were a lot more celebrities out and about this week, so click through to see them all.

Man on a Ledge Trailer: Worthington's on a Suicide Mission

Man on a Ledge starts out with a premise that's not terribly groundbreaking, but the trailer reveals a pretty interesting twist halfway through.

Man on a Ledge starts out with a premise that's not terribly groundbreaking, but the trailer reveals a pretty interesting twist halfway through. A desperate man (Sam Worthington) steps out onto a ledge of a high-rise building with the intention of jumping. As a suicide negotiator (Elizabeth Banks), police, and a crowd of freaked-out onlookers assemble around him, he relates his predicament. The man, Nick, is an ex-con who refuses to go back to prison, and he sees no other way out besides death.

Here's where the twist comes in: Nick is just providing a large-scale distraction while his brother (Jamie Bell) pulls off a massive diamond heist — a crime that's way easier to commit when the police have something better to worry about, like making sure a guy doesn't leap off a building into the city street below. The trailer is tense and heart-pounding, and there's a "make it rain" reference that makes it worth watching.

Watch the trailer after the jump.

Avatar star Sam Worthington and his girlfriend of nearly three years, Natalie Mark, have pulled the plug on their relationship, the Daily Telegraph reveals. An insider tells them, “It’s been on the cards for a while, I believe,” and Sam was reportedly in a foul mood at the G’Day USA Black Tie Gala on the weekend. Sam will be able to keep himself busy with work — he’s currently filming Man on a Ledge, and Wrath of the Titans, sequel to Clash of the Titans, is in pre-production. Natalie, who has supported Sam and been by his side for most of his red carpet events, works as a stylist and her client list includes Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr.
