When we look back at the pictures we've shared on Instagram over the past week, they kind of scream "Summer" to us. From beautiful tropical prints (on nails and clothing!) to an amazing surfboard being gifted to FabSugar editor Ali and bright and beautiful makeup colours hitting Alison's desk, everything has us craving to be out in the sunshine. Of course, we've gotta work (shame) so when we weren't checking out cool new season collections, eating cupcakes or testing products, we were writing up about Kate Middleton's pregnancy, learning about clever developments in the science of beauty and celebrating the approaching end of the year with some of our mates. Hello, Summer! We're so happy to be capping this hectic week off with a beautiful sunny day. There were two things on our minds this week: the festive season, and the 2012 ARIA Awards. Our office Christmas tree went up and the advent calendars came out as we got into the spirit of things, and as for the ARIAs? PopSugar editor Jess was on the ground at the red carpet, snapping candid shots of Taylor Swift, Reece Mastin and a few Big Brother contestants, while we kept you guys updated online (wait 'til you see what we had for dinner!). Many new beauty products came our way (which BellaSugar ed Alison compiled into cute gift guides) and FabSugar ed Ali had fun trying out some super cool sunglasses. We can't believe it's Friday already, can you? The weeks heading towards Christmas are going faster and faster, and we're loving every minute of them. This week, FabSugar editor Ali was kept busy with a colourful array of Autumn/Winter 2013 collections (but we're still in Summer spirits!), while BellaSugar's Alison had fun trying bags full of goodies, including the soon-to-be-released new Chanel collection. Meanwhile, over in entertainment land, PopSugar editor Jess got up close and personal with the stars of the new James Bond film, Skyfall, and watched with bated breath to see who would be crowned the winner of The X Factor 2012. What a fun week it's been! We really have been lucky ladies this week, hitting up celeb-studded parties (like the CLEO Swim Party), getting to view new fashion collections before they hit the shelves (wait 'til you see Country Road's latest offerings!), getting spoiled with cakes and getting to try any new beauty products that come our way. In between the fun, we were nose to the keyboard, bashing out gallery after gallery of various events, like Ryan Gosling's birthday

It's fair to say that our lives were kind of (completely) ruled by television this week. But can you blame us? Between the Melbourne Cup — we didn't win, did you? — Obama winning the US Presidential election, the Big Brother Finale, and the annual Victoria's Secret parade, we seriously had our work cut out for us. When we weren't attached to the office telly, we were out and about, with FabSugar editor Ali checking out any new fashion finds, BellaSugar's Alison getting whisked off to a farm in the Adelaide Hills, Jess from PopSugar mingling with local celebs at a Moet & Chandon party, and so much more. Well, as usual, it was a big ole week for us here in the Sugar office! We all came together to celebrate the birthday of one of our especially stylish team members, who was lucky enough to score a slew of pressies — including a designer necklace sent by the designer herself! We got into the swing of Halloween things, donning a few less-than-scary masks and scoping out the endless pics that famous people posted on social media — including Ellen DeGeneres' hilarious get-up. When we weren't clowning around, we were working (promise!) to bring you the latest in fashion, beauty and celebrity, including an interview with the newest British It group, Little Mix (they're so lovely!), checking out designer collections and trying on the latest beauty wares. Early start, lots of writing, pretty pictures, lots of writing, fashion showing, lots of writing, celebrity interview, lots of writing, beauty delivery, lots of writing, event, bed, repeat. That's pretty much the gist of our daily lives here at Sugar... but of course we let our hair down, too! This week, FabSugar editor Ali was lucky enough to sit down with iconic designer Diane von Furstenberg, PopSugar's Jess got up close and personal with all the stars at Sony Foundation Wharf4Ward and BellaSugar had a play with some particularly special new products that hit our doorstep. If you're sitting there wondering what exactly a publisher does each day, please don't take this gallery as a guide. You see, my week has been anything but usual thanks to a little tropical sojourn to Fiji. Cocktails and snorkelling aside, my days spent as publisher of the Sugar sites is always a healthy mix of work and fun. Each day is spent working with an awesome team on the editorial and commercial side of things, as well as fitting in meetings, planning and everything in between.

On a personal front, I live my life by the motto 'What Would Gwyneth Do' (WWGD). Much like my mate Gwynnie, I have a keen interest in fashion, food, family and health, and my passion for homewares and interior decorating takes up much of my spare time. When I'm not searching for the perfect trestle table or vintage Hermès serving tray, you'll find me in the kitchen baking everything from kale chips (trust me, they're tastier than they sound), or a fresh batch of brownies. So while I ponder whether my herb garden should be potted or planted (WWGD?), take a stroll through my busy, fun and sometimes indulgent week all thanks to the Nokia Lumia 900.

Not sure what an associate editor at Sugar does? Let me fill you in. I work across all three Sugar sites from Thursday through to Sunday every week. Yep, I work weekends, and I love it! On Thursdays and Fridays, I'm in the office at Circular Quay, helping PopSugar's Jess, FabSugar's Ali and BellaSugar's Alison with whatever I can. Saturday and Sunday, I'm at home and it's all me on the sites. And then it's the weekend! Having Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays off is such a novelty after working Monday-Friday, 9-5 for years prior to being at Sugar. Three days off is ample time for me to do all the leisurely things I love — and trust me, I love being leisurely.
I'm mad about photography, so no matter where I am or who I'm with I always have my Nokia Lumia 900 with me (the camera quality is insanely good), and I'm always scoping out a photo opportunity. When I'm not working, you can usually find me relaxing on a beach somewhere, playing with our new puppy at home or hanging with my boyfriend, friends and family, all of whom I'm obsessed with. I love nothing more than getting away from the craziness of the Sydney CBD, so any opportunity to be somewhere natural and peaceful, I'll take it! I'm extremely lucky to have a nice balance between hectic and kinda glamorous (work) and relaxed and casual (home and social) — but I'm not sure which I prefer! Don't let me do all the talking. . . I’ll be the first to admit that I have a pretty sweet job. I get to indulge my love of celebrity and entertainment news every day, and when I’m not updating the site I get to interview Australian and international talent — I’ve usually got a chat with a reality TV star every week! — cover premieres and red carpet events, watch movies before they come out, and then I play catch up with any important TV shows I may have missed. It’s extremely busy being the person who has to be across celeb news, movies, TV and music, but is it also bucket loads of fun? Yes!

So much has happened over the past week that I’m grateful I kicked it off with a night away in the Hunter Valley over the weekend. But other than that it’s been a mad rush to make sure I’m all over the biggest events in town. We live-blogged the Emmys, I reported from a premiere, attended a taping of The X Factor, interviewed hot UK music sensation Rita Ora, dined with Sydney’s A-list at the Cosmopolitan Fun, Fearless Female Awards and hit up an outdoor party with the Sugar girls for IKEA.

But it wasn’t all about work — I managed to fit in some much-needed friend catch-up sessions and hung out with my family. Oh, and I’m still in the process of unpacking from a recent holiday to Japan . . . Ready to see a week in my life?
