The MTV Video Music Awards always bring out the best (and worst, in Kanye West's history) in people. And while they lack the couture glamour of the Oscars and the Golden Globes, they still pull out all the stops and the stars come a-flocking. They're taking place in the US on Sunday so we'll be bringing you all the action from the red carpet on Monday morning. But before then, let's refresh our memory about last year's ceremony and Lady Gaga's raw meat dress!
Lady Gaga: The Perspex Womb vs. The Meat Dress

With all the buzz surrounding Lady Gaga arriving to the Grammy Awards, we almost forgot about her meat dress from last year’s MTV Video Music Awards. We thought it would be impossible to top that in terms of extreme/shock factor — vegetarians probably can’t look at that image ever again (I’m sorry for posting it here!) — but then again, this is Gaga we’re talking about. She’ll always find a way to make sure she’s the talking point. So now we know her entrance mobile is a Perspex WOMB and not an egg (it doesn’t conjure up the most pleasant image), which do you think is more over-the-top — the womb or the meat dress?
PopSugar’s Favourite Female Artist 2010: Lady Gaga

Gaga oooh la la! Lady Gaga was everywhere once again this year. She brought her Monster Ball tour to Australia in March and sealed her place as a global pop icon. She scooped up 13 MTV Video Music Awards, six Grammy nominations and was named Billboard’s Artist of the Year. Even Glee dedicated an episode to her music (that's when you know you've really made it). She was the most searched celeb on the Internet AND had the most followers on Twitter with 7.3 million “little monsters” (take that Ashton Kutcher). Her new album Born This Way is due for release next year and we expect more world domination in 2011.
This Week's Fab Faves!
It’s been a massive few weeks over here at Sugar HQ, and this one has been no exception. We’ve flown across the world from New York to London, and now hopped over to Milan to continue our fashion week coverage. On a very positive note, the rest of the celeb world has managed to continue on, gallivanting from event to event, bringing us some beautiful red carpet looks along the way. We couldn't help but add a few of our fave looks from London Fashion Week (they've been a great front row!), as well as a few premieres from NYC and London. Check it out all out here!
This Week's Fab Faves!
With all the celebs swarming New York Fashion Week it’s easy to forget that other cities hosted events that brought stars out in their stylish best. The Toronto Film Festival was on this week and saw girls like Carey Mulligan and Blake Lively premiere their respective movies in ensembles from their favourite designers, while at another film festival Sofia Coppola proved why she can win over movie and fashion critics. But let’s be honest — this week really has been about New York, and while we love what’s come down the runways, we’re just as obsessed (if not more — hence all the celeb stalking!) with what the front row had to offer. So as we settle into London Fashion Week, let’s bring this week to a stylish close.
The Mad Manis and Neutral Nails of the 2010 MTV VMAs
Nails are fast becoming the hottest accessory ever so we thought we'd check out 16 of the top manis from the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. From Ashley Greene's gunmetal grey to Lady Gaga's lilac greige and not forgetting Katy Perry's ode to Russell Brand, it's truly been a talon-tastic show. Not everyone went all out with Lo Bosworth and Florence Welch opting for a clear coat, but others, like Selena Gomez made sure they found the perfect polish to match their dresss. Cute! Check it all out now and tell me who was wearing your favourite mani . . .
Taylor, Kanye, Chelsea, Rihanna and Eminem Make For A Memorable VMA Show!
Chelsea Handler played capable host at the 2010 MTV VMAs on Sunday in LA. After the handsome guys and fashionable women hit the white carpet they took their seats for a roller coaster of an evening. The show started with a performance by Eminem and surprise guest Rihanna. Then Chelsea had Lindsay Lohan's help opening the show. Eminem left and flew back to NYC for his shows with Jay-Z right after his performance, which meant he couldn't accept any of his awards. He and Lady Gaga were the big winners of the night—check out the whole list of winners here. Justin Bieber of course had all the girls screaming with his outdoor performance, while his mentor Usher showed off his amazing dance movies on stage. Taylor Swift's ballad about Kanye West was one of the most talked-about moments and she went barefoot to contrast her D&G dress.
Chelsea got into a hot tub with the cast of Jersey Shore and emerged with a big fake pregnancy belly, but it was Cher's stomach baring outfit that stole the show. Cher stepped out looking like a blast from the past to hand Video of the Year out to Lady Gaga. Katy Perry joined Nicki Minaj to present an award during which Katy joked about meeting her fiance Russell Brand at the 2009 VMAs. Russell didn't accompany Katy this time around, though she brought him on her manicure. Kanye closed the show with his new anthem, "Runaway", in which he called for everyone to "raise a toast to the douchebags" implying that he is one of them after interrupting Taylor last year. Overall it was a fairly tame VMAs as the stars headed out to keep celebrating at all the afterparties.
Tune in to MTV tonight as they'll be screening the show at 5pm, 8pm and 11pm!
2010 MTV Video Music Awards: Stop! It's Accessories Time!
There seems to be a common theme amongst award-goers at the mo' (Emmy's, anyone?), with the majority of stars sporting major sparkles on both their outfits and accessories. Audrina Patridge and Kirsten Prout glittered from head to toe, and the rest weren't far behind! It's not all diamonds though — we spied sleek but simple clutches, classic strappy heels and oversized rings from stars who like to mix things up. Stalk our gallery and see who rocked their Fabcessories best!

Katy, Ashley and Emma Go Short and Sexy at the MTV VMAs!
The white carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards was full of bold fashion choices and beautiful ladies alongside plenty of hot guys. Lady Gaga didn't disappoint in a dramatic ensemble, while Katy Perry paired colourful hair and her nail art with a barely there dress. She met Russell Brand at last year's VMAs and while he wasn't by her side this time, he was on her manicure. Rosario Dawson kept it simple in a leather-like purple number, and Emma Stone opted for the real thing with a short LBD. Ashley Greene represented the Twilight cast in lacy black and white, and presenter Sofia Vergara's sparkles rounded out the group of glam girls, which also included the ladies of The Hills. Be sure to vote for best dressed and weigh in on all the looks with Fab and Bella's love it or hate it polls!
