Beyoncé Knowles rocked the Billboard Music Awards on Monday with a rendition of "Run the World (Girls)" that had people talking about her incredible choreography and bold use of background graphics. We loved the star's hot dance moves, but now the originality of her sexy performance is in question. Italian pop singer Lorella Cuccarini put on a strikingly similar show last year, which Beyoncé admitted to being aware of. She said, "My makeup artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini a year ago, and it inspired me so much. I then met with the talented people who worked on it. The technology and concept were so genius. Thank God for YouTube or I would have never been exposed to something so inspiring." Watch both ladies side by side and tell us what you think — was Beyoncé just inspired or was it a total rip-off?
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were just one of the cute couples at the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas last night. They got cosy in the audience while watching performances from Britney Spears, Rihanna and Beyoncé, but all eyes were on them when Justin and Selena kissed for the cameras during the nationally televised event. Justin didn't mention his girlfriend when he took the stage to accept his multiple awards, though he did call her "amazing" backstage. The teenage duo kept their relationship under wraps for a while and only stepped out publicly for the first time at Vanity Fair's Oscars bash in February. Justin and Selena seem to be increasingly comfortable showing off their relationship, as they also lip-locked at a press conference earlier this month.
Before we say buh-bye to the Billboard Music Awards, it's time to check out the celebs that nailed it on the night — yep, that's right, it's talon time! And we have to say we were left a little disappointed by the lack of fun and flirty fingertips, with most celebs playing it safe and opting for naked or nude nails. Spoilsports. Nicki Minaj and Keri Hilson added some much-needed pink into the mix, while Fergie and Rihanna proved that they're still diehard stiletto nail fans. Kelly Rowland showed Justin Bieber that there's more than one way with gold and Ke$ha continued with the metallics trend wearing silver. Which look is your fave?
Apart from the weird and wonderful on-stage costumes on show at the Billboard Music Awards, there was also a more subdued trend going today. Black was the hue du jour, making for an elegant line up of frocks on the white carpet. What could have turned in a snooze-fest was kept interesting by these ladies' keen eye for detail. Despite being black each dress had its unique point of interest; be it via a bejewelled neckline like Beyoncé's Lanvin LBD, sexy cut-outs as seen on Selena, peek-a-boo fabrication c/o Kylie's LBD, beautifully beaded as picked by Nic, or feather-skirted like Michelle's. See what we mean? We're usually a sucker for colour, but this stylish line up reminded us how elegant (and versatile) the trusty black dress can be.
After a five year absence the Billboard Music Awards were back today, bigger and better than ever before! Hosted by The Hangover’s Ken Jeong at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the night honoured some of the biggest names in music today, such as Rihanna, Taylor Swift, U2, Eminem and veteran Neil Diamond. Justin Bieber was one of the night’s early winners, and after his award for top new artist was announced he took the opportunity to kiss girlfriend Selena Gomez, who sat by his side throughout the show. Exciting and energetic performances were the talking points, starting with Rihanna’s sexy rendition of “S&M” with Britney Spears. When Beyoncé hit the stage to sing “Run the World (Girls)” she had everyone on their feet, and following that she was honoured for her music and humanitarian work with the Billboard Millennium Award. Cee Lo Green wowed the crowd with his medley of songs and rotating piano, while Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban also provided entertainment on stage.
Today was jam packed with standout looks thanks to the 2011 Billboard Music Awards. The music industry can always be counted on to provide some jaw-dropping style, as these musos aren't afraid to make a statement on the red, or in today's case white, carpet. From Nicki Minaj's crazy-town onesie, to Britney Spears and Rihanna heating things up in coordinating leotards, to Ke$ha's cut-out creation there was no shortage of interesting looks. We also got a good dose of glamour, thanks to Taylor Swift's glittering Elie Saab gown, Selena Gomez's sexy Dolce & Gabbana number and Kylie Minogue, who won us over with her Alexander McQueen party frock. From the chic arrivals, to the sexed up on-stage costumes, to the press room pics, we've rounded up Billboard's best looks so you can scope them all in one place. Step inside and catch the pictures you may have missed!
The Billboard Awards came back with a bang after a five-year hiatus — video tributes from Lady Gaga and co. poured in for Beyoncé, who was honoured with the Millennium Award, wowing the crowds with her hair-whipping performance. Meanwhile Britney and Rihanna danced with whips, chains and masks in a risqué rendition of "S&M". You've rated your favourite red carpet looks, but here are some shots you may have missed, including Modern Family's Eric "The King" Stonestreet as Elvis Presley, Snoop Dogg looking all bad ass with his pretty plaited pigtails, Fergie's neon green eye makeup and Nicki Minaj wearing a blonde bobbed wig! Have you seen Beyoncé performing at the Billboard Music Awards yet? It's kinda amazing, to say the least. Switching from her skimpy on-stage outfit, Ms Knowles chose this ultra sleek Lanvin dress for the press room photos — proving that she can leave Sasha Fierce on stage and do grown up glamour as well as anyone. She teamed the long sleeved dress with silver peep-toe heels and a pair of statement making hoops, but take a closer look to check out the intricate brooch detailing and silver edged neckline. Sexy, non? We're giving Beyoncé a standing ovation, what about you?
We got so distracted by all the pretty hair and makeup that the musical girls served up for the Billboard Awards that we nearly neglected to mention Justin Bieber's change of style. Obviously getting used to his shorter strands, Justin wore his hair spiked up to the side while his gorgeous girlfriend went sleek and straight. Obviously the dynamic duo had worked out that his 'n' hers matching volume on the red carpet is a no no. What do you think of Bieb's look?
