Yesterday's MTV Movie Awards' arrivals caught our attention with this season's biggest trends — and most glamorous add-ons. Every celebrity look, from Kristen Stewart to Charlize Theron, was not just about the stem-flaunting frock, but about the details that dressed it up. Statement heels like Jessica Biel's colour-blocked Barbara Bui platforms amped up the cool of her LWD, while Emma Watson's studded cuffs added a cool-girl edge to her surfer-inspired mini. Inside, we've culled the standout accessories — click on for all the baubles, bags, shoes, and more that caught our attention on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet.
The MTV Movie Awards red carpet provides the perfect outlet for celebrities to showcase their more playful sides, from bold lipstick to tousled up 'dos to everything in between. It's the network's 21st Movie Awards, so take a close-up look at which stars got the most adventurous, and which ones tried a more natural approach.
The MTV Movie Awards proved to be a playground for Tangerine Tango, Pantone's Colour of the Year. Julianne Hough, for instance, chose a sparkling metallic orange eyeshadow above and below her lids, and paired it with a soft pink gloss on the lips. Charlize Theron went for a shimmery peach shade, which added a bit of glitz and glimmer to her otherwise natural makeup palette. For Leighton Meester, her love affair with tangerine didn't just stop with the eyes, as the star also wore the bright shade on her lips and cheeks. If the first half of the year is any indication, expect to see this fiery shade on red carpets everywhere well into the party season.
MTV's 2012 Movie Awards red carpet may have been full of natural makeup palettes, but the nails were anything but. From Janelle Monae's monochramtic mani to Kristen Stewart's pretty peweter to Elizabeth Banks' hot pink hue, see who bedazzled and who sparkled when it came to the evening's hottest nail polish looks.
Russell Brand opened this today's MTV Movie Awards in his typical irreverent manner. Bouncing from one off-colour celebrity topic to another, he finally said, "Wait until you hear what I have to say about short-lived celebrity marriages!" Russell, who filed for divorce from Katy Perry last December after 14 months of marriage, went on to thank Kim Kardashian, whose own 72-day union "took a lot of pressure off me." Russell went on to give a lewd shout-out to his former schoolmate Michael Fassbender and even riled up the rivalry between Hunger Games and Twilight fans.
Ted's Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg were the first to present, handing off the best dirtbag honour to none other than Jennifer Aniston. There was some unscripted drama, though, when Mark came to Mila's defence after an audience member made a rude comment. Further love went to best male and female performers Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence of The Hunger Games. Kristen Stewart and her Snow White and the Huntsman co-star Chris Hemsworth presented the latter to an absent Jennifer, who's making a movie in Prague.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart managed to snag their fourth consecutive best kiss award for the Twilight series, but since he wasn't at the show, she accepted it solo. Kristen jokingly called up her SWATH co-stars Chris and Charlize Theron, and even asked for help from Taylor Lautner. Then saying, "That's OK, I do pretty well by myself," Kristen wrapped her arms around herself and pretended to be making out with someone.
Aerosmith's Joe Perry and Steven Tyler were on hand to give the 2012 Generation Award to Johnny Depp. Johnny accepted by accompanying The Black Keys for a musical number. With his daughter, Lily-Rose, in the audience, Johnny thanked his fans for the "amazing honour." Another big prize went to Emma Stone, this year's Trailblazer. She gave a heartfelt acceptance speech thanking her own idols and urging young people to try and be their true, unique selves.
Emma also did a stint on stage with her The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield, and they were followed by Prometheus' Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron. Total Recall's Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel handed off the golden popcorn for best cast to the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 gang, which was represented by Emma Watson. Magic Mike hotties Matthew McConaughey and Channing Tatum were interrupted by their shirtless co-star Joe Manganiello when presenting best transformation to The Hunger Games' Elizabeth Banks.
Before the best picture was crowned, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Christian Bale gave a sneak peek at The Dark Knight Rises. Finally, Breaking Dawn Part 1 was deemed movie of the year, with Kristen, Taylor and their co-stars taking the stage to say thanks. Be sure to check out all the MTV Movie Awards winners.
The MTV Movie Awards brought out some stunning looks on the red carpet and now, it's time for you to vote on your best dressed ensemble. We narrowed it down to Shailene's sexy menswear-inspired getup from Stella McCartney, Emma Watson's surfer-cool halter mini by Brood, and Charlize's red hot Lanvin frock. We were equally smitten with Emma Stone's chic black bustier-style peplum top and ivory bubble-hemmed miniskirt by Aussie Martin Grant. Four gorgeous ladies, four equally gorgeous looks. Move over, Twilight — this year the MTV Movie Awards officially had Hunger Games fever! While it didn’t sweep all the awards, The Hunger Games picked up some of the top honours, including best male performance and best female performance for Josh and Jennifer respectively. Still, Breaking Dawn Part 1 was far from going home empty-handed and took out the coveted best kiss and movie of the year categories, while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 also got some love for its final outing at the annual movies event.

Johnny Depp was the big winner of today's 2012 Generation honour at the MTV Movie Awards in LA. His good pals Joe Perry and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith were on hand to present the golden popcorn and opened the segment with lavish praise for Johnny's life and work. Johnny accepted by accompanying The Black Keys for a musical number, while his daughter, Lily-Rose, looked on proudly from the audience. During a break from the tunes, Johnny thanked his fans for the "amazing honour." The show also featured a montage looking back at many of Johnny's most iconic roles.
Kristen Stewart took the stage at the MTV Movie Awards in LA today after walking the red carpet solo. She linked up with her Snow White and the Huntsman leading man Chris Hemsworth to present the best female performance honour. She joked that Chris was a great guy to present with, since he's very in touch with his feminine side. Chris and Kristen presented a golden popcorn to absentee Jennifer Lawrence of The Hunger Games, though she couldn't attend since she's making a movie in Prague. Kristen was a winner herself when the best kiss results were announced. It was her and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson's fourth consecutive best kiss popcorn! He wasn't at the show, though, so Kristen accepted solo. Kristen jokingly called up her SWATH co-stars Chris and Charlize Theron, and even asked for help from Taylor Lautner. Then saying, "That's OK, I do pretty well by myself," Kristen wrapped her arms around herself and pretended to be making out with someone.
