Our Favourite: Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side Award season's darling is also the biggest surprise: Sandra Bullock has been sweeping the best actress category for her role as a big-hearted Tennessee mother.

For every Golden Globe nomination, there is always someone who's missed out. Sometimes the snub is entirely understandable, and other times it makes absolutely no sense at all. It's all part and parcel of an award ceremony that only has five nominees per category, we suppose.

Category: Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama
The Contenders: Gabourey Sidibe, Precious vs Carey Mulligan, An Education
The Lowdown: It's the battle of the newcomers. This is the first Golden Globe nom for Gabourey and Carey, though both actresses have received plenty of buzz (not to mention critics' awards) for their roles in Precious and An Education. With the last three winners of this category being British (Kate Winslet, Julie Christie, Helen Mirren), the cute and charming Carey certainly has her accent going for her.
