Beauty and the Geek 2011

5 Minutes With Beauty and the Geek's Lachlan and Sarah!

Lachlan and Sarah’s close bond on Beauty and the Geek was the key to their big win on the show’s series finale last night.

Lachlan and Sarah’s close bond on Beauty and the Geek was the key to their big win on the show’s series finale last night. They were up against Julian and Jordan in the last Q&A round, in which the Beauties and Geeks were tested on their knowledge about their partners. We chatted to the cute pair about how they celebrated, what they’re planning to do with their $100,000 cash prize, how they’ve changed, and how Lachlan is going to make things work long distance with girlfriend Jordan.

How did you guys celebrate?
Sarah: I had some of the Geeks that were able to come from Sydney at my house last night, so we all watched it together. And Lachlan and I had an early night because we had a big day today.
Lachlan: I was at Sarah’s place. We got to bed early because it’s been quite a hectic period. We’ve known for three months that we won, so it was a lot more exciting for family and friends who didn’t know. They probably celebrated harder than we did.

How did you manage to keep it a secret for so long?
Sarah: Not sure [laughs]. I usually can’t keep my mouth shut, so with this I was very proud of myself that I didn’t tell friends. I’ve lied to quite a few people.
Lachlan: I didn’t have any issues at all. We were contractually obliged not to tell anyone, so that’s what I did, I honoured the contract.

Sarah and Lachlan Win Beauty and the Geek Australia 2011!

Sarah and Lachlan are the winners of Beauty and the Geek Australia 2011!

Sarah and Lachlan are the winners of Beauty and the Geek Australia 2011! The pair beat Jordan and Julian after answering the most questions correctly in a Q&A where the Beauties and Geeks were tested on how much they knew about their partners. Sarah and Jordan — who is also Lachlan’s girlfriend — found themselves in a tie-breaker situation, where the decider came down to who could answer their Geeks’ height to the closest centimetre. Sarah said Lachlan was 175cm (he’s 180cm) and Jordan said Julian was 151cm (he’s 163cm), so as a result, Sarah and Lachlan were awarded the title, as well as a $100,000 cash prize!

Beauty and the Geek Uses Luke O'Dell's "Introvert Extrovert"

Even if you haven’t been watching the new series of The X Factor every night, there’s a good chance you may have heard of Luke O’Dell, whose Brisbane audition was screened last Wednesday night.

Even if you haven’t been watching the new series of The X Factor every night, there’s a good chance you may have heard of Luke O’Dell, whose Brisbane audition was screened last Wednesday night. After bombing his original audition, a rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” he gave another performance of an original hit, “Introvert Extrovert.” While it still wasn’t good enough for the judges to send him through to boot camp, it was good enough for the new promo of Beauty and the Geek Australia! You can hear that there’s a little more autotune action going on as we get briefly introduced to the beauties and geeks of the 2011 series, and the lyrics are a perfect match for the show. So while Luke isn’t going to win The X Factor, it looks like his song is a hit with Channel Seven. Watch the promo below — good luck trying to get it out of your head now!
