Aussie Actors Vie To Be The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Production on the much-anticipated American version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is moving forward-even though the cast hasn't been finalised yet. The film is set to be released on Dec. 21, 2011, and Daniel Craig is the front-runner to play Mikael, but the role of Lisbeth is still up in the air. Carey Mulligan's name is on the list, but there are also four Aussies being considered for the plum role-Beautiful Kate star Sophie Lowe, Alice In Wonderland actress Mia Wasikowska, Emily Browning and little-known Sydney stage actress Sarah Snook. Colin Farrell has been everywhere lately, with his recent roles in Crazy Heart and Ondine and upcoming ones in By Virtue Fall and Fright Night. And now there's word that he could tackle Ozzy Osbourne in a biopic about the rocker's life. Farrell could certainly pull off the bad boy rocker vibe, but I can't imagine the boyish-faced actor in the long hair and goth get up of the Black Sabbath legend. It gets even more interesting when you consider wife Sharon recently said that she'd want Carey Mulligan to play her. What do you think of this casting possibility?

The cast of Money Never Sleeps wrapped up their afternoon press obligations and got black-tie ready for their big premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last Friday. Lovebirds Carey Mulligan and Shia LaBeouf kept their distance on the red carpet, as he stuck with Michael Douglas and she posed with Josh Brolin. Despite recent speculation on the state of Josh's marriage, his wife, Diane Lane, was out to support his latest big-screen endeavour. Kate Beckinsale put on her latest show-stopping dress to take in Shia and Carey's movie as a juror. Salma Hayek was once again with husband Francois-Henri Pinault, this time clad in a gown matching the red carpet. BFFs Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, meanwhile, joined young actors Christopher and Gerardo Ruiz-Esparza for a screening of Abel. The project is Diego's directorial debut, while Gael served as producer. Gael's Letters to Juliet also hit theatres over the weekend and we recently caught up with him to discuss love letters and eating well-make sure to check out what Gael and his co-stars, Amanda Seyfriend and Chris Egan, have to say.

Shia and Carey Have No Time to Rest With Money Never Sleeps at Cannes

Shia LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan made the rounds at the Cannes Film Festival Friday for their film Money Never Sleeps. The couple joined their costars Michael Douglas and Josh Brolin, as well as director Oliver Stone for a photo call this morning before another group chat with reporters and video interviews. Conversation for Shia turned from the movie to his personal life and he even opened up about Carey, saying she's "a beautiful woman, a sweetheart . . . we have fun together." Michael, meanwhile, spoke to Parade earlier about working with Shia. Despite initial hesitations about Shia's acting abilities, Michael said, "He knocked it out of the park. I’m so proud of him, he just kicked butt.”
