It was a big evening for stage actors and theatre fans on Sunday thanks to the Tony Awards in NYC. There were plenty of fashionable ladies on the red carpet, including a Marios Schwab-clad Jessica Chastain and Amanda Seyfried in edgy Givenchy. Jessica was one of the evening's presenters and was especially excited to snap a picture with Broadway legend Bernadette Peters. Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, smiled for the cameras, as did a long list of leading men like Paul Rudd, James Marsden and Matthew Morrison. Andrew Garfield walked the red carpet without his girlfriend, Emma Stone, but she joined him inside the Beacon Theatre. He was up for the best actor in a feature role Tony for his work in Death of a Salesman, but lost the statue to Peter and the Starcatcher's Christian Borle. Death of a Salesman did, though, win for best revival of a play.

Cynthia Nixon is celebrating more than Memorial Day weekend in the States — the Sex and the City actress married her long-time partner Christine Marinoni on Sunday! Cynthia’s rep confirmed the news in a statement, saying, “On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York. Nixon wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera.” Cynthia, who has two children with photographer Danny Mozes, was engaged to Christine for three years. Christine gave birth to their son, Max, in February 2011. Congrats to the couple!

Sex and the City 2 Special Edition DVD ($24.82) Some people may have criticised the sequel, but if you’re SATC fan, you’ll still want it as part of your collection.

Because we’re celebaholics here at Sugar HQ, we couldn’t help but wonder who Julia Gillard reminds us of in Hollywood. Tilda Swinton immediately came to mind with her minimal makeup and no-fuss red hair, but also possibly a dash of Cynthia Nixon thrown in for good measure. Now that Julia is representin’ the world stage next to France’s Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and America's Michelle Obama, we think she might need to get a glam squad to turn things up a notch. (We’re only saying this because we care.) Yes, it’s about her policies, but you know people are going to analyse her looks, so once she looks fabulous, all the critics can take a chill pill. Perhaps the first steps would be ditching the Hillary Clinton pantsuits and using a belt to accentuate her curves (Fab has waaaay more to say on this)? And since her partner is a hairdresser, maybe a little more shape to the hair and a little more warmth to the colour? And maybe some bronzer and lashings of mascara? (See Bella—she'll sort you out!) We’re just sayin’. . . but what do you think? We've been getting amped up for the movie as Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis premiere the anticipated sequel around the world and are itching to see the film for ourselves when it hits cinemas this Wednesday.
