A few of Hollywood's award season beauties came out for the Costume Designers Guild Awards in LA Thursday night. Anna Kendrick has a big job on her hands picking her Oscars gown as a first time nominee and she stood out in pretty white Elie Saab gown yesterday evening. Newly 27-year-old Emily Blunt slipped into something dark and stormy while Kristen Bell made her metallic choice a lot more golden. Blunt took home one of the night's prizes, the Swarovski Award while her The Young Victoria won for excellence in period film. Both engaged girls have some wedding planning in the works, as does another of the night's attendee's Anna Paquin.

The Wolfman opens in theatres this weekend tells the story of Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro), "a haunted nobleman," who returns to his ancestral homeland and is bitten (and cursed) by a werewolf. The movie also features Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and our own Hugo Weaving. I wish the movie were coming out around Halloween, but if you're in denial about Valentine's Day (lalalala—denial is a happy place), then check out the trailer and a gallery of spooky images.

Emily Blunt looked stunning in a one shouldered black dress as she stepped out at the premiere of The Wolfman in Hollywood last night. She posed with her costars Benicio Del Toro and a very beardy Anthony Hopkins on the red carpet, sharing a joke and laughing with the pair. Her fiance John Krasinski also joined Emily on the red carpet to support her, looking very handsome in his suit as he let her take centre stage. Adorable!

Sandra Bullock was in high spirits on Friday night as she helped kick off the Santa Barbara Film Festival. She added another honour to her already impressive award season tally, accepting the American Riviera Award from Forest Whitaker. All eyes are on Sandra as the favourite to win the Oscar, but Sandra's not so sure—she expressed her skepticism at the ceremony, saying, "I'm so not winning an Oscar." Other big winners from the evening included Emily Blunt, Saoirse Ronan and Carey Mulligan, who's also nominated for an Academy Award for her role in An Education.

George Clooney has organised a global telethon in aid of Haiti, which will take place in LA, New York and London this Friday night (lunchtime Saturday AEDT). A huge lineup of stars have offered their time to support the two hour benefit, which will raise money for earthquake relief. George is set to host from LA, while Robert Pattinson has been signed on to lead proceedings in London! Keith Urban will also lend his vocal talents for the good cause: he'll take the stage in LA for a group performance with Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow.
The boys will be joined by a whole host of stars, including Brad Pitt, Zac Efron, Jennifer Aniston—deep breath—Jake Gyllenhaal, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pine and Emily Blunt, with performances also from Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Bono, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and The Edge.
Funds raised will go to Oxfam America, Red Cross, Unicef, Partners in Health and the Yele Haiti Foundation. Australian pay TV peeps can catch the Hope For Haiti telethon on MTV on Saturday from 12pm (AEDT). I'm hoping that a free-to-air TV station picks it up as well, so everyone has a chance to participate. I'll keep you posted if one of the networks steps up for a good cause!
A little rain didn't dampen the fashion show on the red carpet at last night's Golden Globes in LA. Some of our favourite ladies had to accessorise with umbrellas, but apart from wet trains, they seemed pretty unfazed. Diane Kruger led the evening's artsy trend in her bold pink Christian Lacroix gown, while Cameron Diaz went bright in her red Alexander McQueen. Sandra Bullock also decided on colour with purple, though Marion Cotillard went a little more low-key in a muted dark green. Jennifer Garner, meanwhile, opted to go the sparkly route in Versace.
A few ladies, though, decided to forgo the colour — Penelope Cruz chose black with a part-lace Giorgio Armani Prive gown, as did January Jones with her Lanvin. Kate Hudson and Anna Kendrick took opposite approaches, each choosing to go with light Marchesa numbers. Drew Barrymore also picked Versace, though her dress was one-shouldered and nude-coloured. Fab and Bella had things covered on the style and beauty fronts with their love it or hate it polls, so make sure to check in with them for all the latest news from the carpet!
