The world premiere of The Great Gatsby was held at the Lincoln Center in NYC today, and the film’s big stars were out in force on the black carpet. Man of the moment Leonardo DiCaprio arrived solo but his handsome co-stars Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton had their significant others with them, Jennifer Meyer and Alexis Blake respectively. Leading lady Carey Mulligan chose a strapless red Lanvin dress for the occasion, while Isla Fisher picked floral Dolce & Gabbana.

Jay-Z, who serves as executive producer on the movie’s soundtrack, was also on hand for the premiere, but his wife Beyoncé, who did a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” for the album, couldn’t make it because she’s currently on her Mrs. Carter world tour in London. Florence Welch, who also contributed a song to the soundtrack, hugged it out with director Baz Luhrmann, and when Baz wasn’t mingling with his stars he posed with wife Catherine Martin, the movie’s costume designer. Catherine worked with designer Miuccia Prada on some of the gorgeous dresses, and last night Prada threw a cocktail reception for The Great Gatsby to celebrate an upcoming exhibit of the costumes.

The Great Gatsby is one of the year’s most anticipated films after having its release date constantly pushed back. After the NYC premiere, the cast will head to France where they’ll open the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Then they’ll return to Sydney, where a majority of the 3D film was shot, for its third red carpet outing on May 22, ahead of its May 30 release. Despite all the reports about production delays and budget issues, Aussie star Callan McAuliffe, who portrays young Jay Gatsby, tweeted this after watching it today: “I hate to overuse the phrase but I think it's necessary here... Gatsby was DAMN FANCY.”

Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z continued their holiday in Cuba today. They enjoyed the view from the balcony of their room at Havana's Hotel Saratoga. Both Beyoncé and Jay preserved the memory by snapping a photo, though his hands were quite full balancing a cigar. Jay's been able to indulge his passion for cigars while in Cuba, also being photographed puffing away as he and his wife of five years left dinner Wednesday at the city's La Guarida restaurant. The couple are in Cuba, a destination restricted for many American travellers, along with their mothers, Tina Knowles and Gloria Carter. The getaway coincided with Jay and Beyoncé's fifth wedding anniversary on April 4. In addition to celebrating her marriage milestone, it's also being reported that Beyoncé has been named as an honorary chair for next month's Costume Institute Gala benefit.

Jessica Biel and Justin TImberlake celebrated his fifth time hosting SNL on Saturday night with an after party at NYC's Buddakan. Many of the show's regular performers, including Kenan Thompson, Bill Hader and Seth Meyers, turned out for the bash, as did special guests like Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd. Jay-Z also swung by after joining Justin onstage for a performance of their single "Suit & Tie."

Justin's SNL episode was a star-studded affair with cameos from Tom Hanks, Martin Short, Candice Bergen, and many more. Justin's stint on SNL was a huge success — it is SNL's best-rated episode in 14 months, since Charles Barkeley's stint hosting in January 2012.

Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z were in Houston last night to attend the NBA All-Star Game. They were treated to opening performances from John Legend and Ne-Yo, as well as a later set by their pal Alicia Keys, before going on to watch the West beat the East with the help of LA Lakers player Kobe Bryant. The loss was a disappointment to the Miami Heat's LeBron James, who kicked off the fun weekend at Saturday's Two Kings dinner with Jay-Z and Beyoncé. The annual Two Kings event, which typically takes place over the All-Star Game weekend, was extra-special for Jay-Z this year. It's the first-ever season for the Brooklyn Nets, of which he is a part owner. There was more fun in store for the couple too — Saturday brought the debut of Beyoncé's HBO documentary, Life Is But a Dream.

Beyoncé Knowles wore a white pantsuit to attend the Two Kings dinner thrown by her husband Jay-Z last night in her hometown of Houston, Texas. The couple were joined by Jay-Z's co-host Lebron James for the annual event, which began in 2007. Diddy and Drake both also attended.

It was a special day for Beyoncé, as her documentary, Life Is But a Dream premiered on HBO as well. The couple celebrated the project at Wednesday's NYC premiere of Life Is But a Dream. The doc, Beyoncé's directorial debut, gave and inside look into her life that included a peek at their daughter Blue Ivy who turned one in January.
