So you know we're going a little loco on the Australiana theme this week — but what better time to celebrate all that is great about Aussie celebs and products made Down Under than the lead-up to Australia Day? We always look forward to events like the Logies and any Australian film premiere, because we get to see stars including Jodi Gordon, Lara Bingle and Rose Byrne flexing their makeup muscles. We asked the Sugar eds to pick their all-time favourite Australian beauty moment; plus the product they'll be purchasing to get thy look at home.

It's been a big week for premieres this time round, with two major films each being introduced on opposite sides of the world. In Los Angeles, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson took to the red carpet to promote final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn Part 2, while over here in Sydney Daniel Craig and his leading ladies Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe showed off new Bond film, Skyfall. It wasn't just premiere's keeping celebrities busy — we watched Taylor Swift do her thing on stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards while her ex, Jake Gyllenhaal, showed off his mystery girlfriend as they held hands walking around New York. Then there was the fashionable event that was the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards (where Emma Stone was a total knockout) and a sighting of the cute Garner-Affleck family — sans one member. Last night’s GQ Men of the Year Awards attracted some of Australia’s brightest stars to the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney. Veterans and newcomers of the entertainment industry gathered for the black tie gala to celebrate men — and one woman! — in different fields, with the highest honour, Man of the Year, going to Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth. Chris, who also fronts GQ’s December issue (on sale now), wasn’t able to pick up his award, but expressed his gratitude via video, saying, “GQ has been so supportive of me right from the beginning of my career and it’s an honour and a privilege to be acknowledged within their pages.”

Rising star Bella Heathcote was named Woman of the Year, and Callan McAuliffe, at age 17, is the magazine’s youngest winner, taking home Breakthrough of the Year. Other winners included Guy Sebastian for Solo Artist of the Year, Matt Moran for Chef of the Year, and Sam Sparro for Man of Style. The guest list was filled with actors such as Phoebe Tonkin, Jodi Gordon, Samara Weaving, Todd Lasance and Asher Keddie, models Jessica Gomes and Samantha Harris, as well as TV personalities Ruby Rose and Molly Meldrum, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong.

We saw more than one stand-out beauty look at the GQ Men of the Year Awards last night, but new bride Jodi Gordon looked particularly amazing in aqua. We'll be dreaming about her beachy waves for weeks to come, but it was her deep bronze tan against the crisp blue of her frock that really brought her look together. We love pairing out favourite aqua and turquoise nail polish with self tan — it's a dream combo and you'll get comments, lots of them.

The cream of Australia's celebrity and modelling scene hit the carpet for the GQ Men of the Year Awards last night in Sydney. Newly married Jodi Gordon was a vision in turquoise with beachy waves, while our resident vampire and ultimate girl crush Phoebe Tonkin sizzled with a bronzed body and minimal makeup. Australia darling Bella Heathcote (who was named Woman of the Year) showed off her incredibly shiny hair, and Ruby Rose brought the wet-look back. Between Halloween and Hurricane Sandy, celebs in the US have had a lot to post about on Twitter, Instagram and the rest of their social media feeds. Jennifer Hawkins shared photos from the set of a Mount Franklin Lightly Sparkling and Cozi collaboration shoot, which combines two of her business ventures, while over in Hawaii it’s been all about sun and relaxation for newlyweds Jodi Gordon and Braith Anasta on their honeymoon. Australia has also been given an extra dose of A-list power with visits from some Hollywood stars — Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis slipped in for a quick business trip, and Kendall Jenner got up close and personal with a koala after attending a book launch with her mother, Kris.
