Razzle-Dazzle! See Sydney's Finest Frock Up for The Great Gatsby

It may have been raining last night at Sydney, but that didn't put a dampener on the glamour on show at Moore Park's Entertainment Quarter for the much anticipated premiere of The Great Gatsby.

It may have been raining last night at Sydney, but that didn't put a dampener on the glamour on show at Moore Park's Entertainment Quarter for the much anticipated premiere of The Great Gatsby. The official invitation asked "a hint of 1920s" from the A-list guest list, and deliver they did  some getting more into the theme than others. Leading ladies Carey Mulligan and Elizabeth Debicki took a more relaxed approach to the dress code, donning a Nina Ricci bustier and Lanvin trousers, and full-skirted floral Christian Dior respectively. Others, like Emma Freedman, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Deborah Hutton, got right into character in flapper-esque dresses with plenty of sparkle.

The middle of the road approach looked the chicest to us; best exemplified by Laura Dundovic, Delta Goodrem, Kate Peck, Alice Burdeu and Jesinta Campbell who added who paid subtle tributes to the era via headpieces, antique lace, deco shapes or metallic fabrications. Good work, girls! This is one red carpet round-up you don't want to miss — step inside to zoom in on all the razzle-dazzle!

Inspirational Ladies Celebrate the 2013 InStyle Women of Style Awards

Influential Australian women (and some men) came together last night at Carriageworks in Sydney for InStyle’s annual Women of Style Awards.

Influential Australian women (and some men) came together last night at Carriageworks in Sydney for InStyle’s annual Women of Style Awards. The glamorous event celebrated the achievements of women from all different fields, from entertainment to beauty, and on the white carpet actress Claudia Karvan said that was her favourite thing about awards like these — getting to mingle with people outside the film and TV industry. Many celebrities talked about the importance of making sure hard-working, inspirational women were recognised for their work, and also saw it as a great night to catch up with industry friends.

Among the winners honoured last night were Carrie Bickmore (readers’ choice), Rachel Griffiths (entertainment) and Carla Zampatti (fashion). To mark the awards’ fifth anniversary they introduced a Hall of Fame Award, and the inaugural one went to the magazine’s new cover girl, Nicole Kidman, for her continued career and community contributions. Unfortunately Nicole couldn’t attend because she is at the Cannes Film Festival — her mother accepted the award on her behalf — but there was still a star-studded guest list including Kate Waterhouse, Samara Weaving, Charlotte Dawson and Michelle Bridges, who brought along her fellow The Biggest Loser trainer Steve “The Commando” Willis.

Yesterday’s hot and sunny day provided the perfect backdrop for the Sony Foundation’s annual Wharf4Ward event, which raises money for youth cancer.

Yesterday’s hot and sunny day provided the perfect backdrop for the Sony Foundation’s annual Wharf4Ward event, which raises money for youth cancer. Colourful balloons and a blue carpet lined Woolloomooloo Wharf and all the restaurants opened their doors for TV stars, executives and media dining and donating at the spectacular lunch event. Sony Music’s stable of artists were on hand to perform, including Justice Crew, Jessica Mauboy and Timomatic, with a surprise performance from international guests Hot Chelle Rae. The remaining finalists on The X Factor also sang for the crowd, busting out a rendition of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.” It wasn’t just about celebrities, entertainment and delicious food through, as companies generously donated to You Can through silent auctions — $520,000 was raised! There were also inspirational testimonies from young cancer patients such as Australian paralympian Chris Bond. Other stars who came out for the cause include a Lanvin-clad Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Luke Jacobz, Karl Stefanovic and Kerri-Anne Kennerley.

Legally Blonde: The Musical officially opened in Sydney last night with an Australian gala premiere attended by musical-loving stars. There may have been a lack of Elle Woods’ signature colour, pink, and bend-and-snap move on the purple carpet — plenty of that in the show — but celebrities such as The X Factor’s Natalie Bassingthwaighte, The Veronicas’ Jess and Lisa Origliasso, Home and Away’s Dan Ewing, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Adam Garcia were happy to pose on their way into the Lyric Theatre. The cast of the musical includes Lucy Durack as Elle, Rob Mills as Warner Huntington III, Erika Heynatz as Brooke Wyndham, and Cameron Daddo as Professor Callahan, and their success was celebrated at The Star’s Marquee nightclub after the show. Jesinta, Jules, Kate and More Frock Up to Launch 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty

Jesinta Campbell, Jules Sebastian and Kate Waterhouse joined more of Sydney’s style set for the launch of 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty at Town Hall last night.

Jesinta Campbell, Jules Sebastian and Kate Waterhouse joined more of Sydney’s style set for the launch of 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty at Town Hall last night. Despite being linked to some of Australia’s most eligible bachelors, Jesinta recently confirmed that she’s single and frustrated at reports of who she’s dating. She told the Herald Sun, “Last week I was dating some actor [PJ Lane] who I met once before at an event. I have been single a long time. I think when people see me tweet someone or see me out with someone, they think I'm dating them, but I'm not seeing anyone.” Jules enjoyed a girls’ night out without the main men in her life, husband Guy and son Hudson, and was the subject of a Twitter prank when Guy hacked into her account yesterday. Also at the launch event were Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Michelle Bridges and Sophie Falkiner.
