Zac Efron hit the red carpet last night at the Venice Film Festival premiere of At Any Price. Zac posed solo, then joined up with his lovely co-star, Maika Monroe, for some stylish snaps before heading into the theatre. He's among the first wave of celebrities to arrive in Italy with Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, and other expected in the upcoming days — see all the hot pics from Venice so far! From Italy Zac will next travel to Canada, where his Lee Daniels-directed drama, The Paperboy (you can watch the trailer here), is screening at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. The Governors Ball was the first stop for many of the winners and presenters after last night's Oscars ceremony. Best actress Sandra Bullock went from chatting about her award in the press room to the afterparty, where she shared a special moment with her supportive husband, Jesse James. Maggie Gyllenhaal didn't claim a statue for Crazy Heart, but she continued the family evening by joining her mother Naomi Foner for a bite. Barbara Streisand cuddled up to Gerard Butler, while Diane Kruger brought her Chanel gown from the red carpet to the ball. Oprah Winfrey joined Gabourey Sidibe after her touching introduction during the best supporting actress presentation. Zoe Saldana stayed in her voluminous dress—which turned out to be quite the trendsetter—, while Neil Patrick Harris relaxed with David Burtka after his amazing opening number. Sigourney Weaver was happy to let her hair down with Anna Kendrick despite Avatar's not winning Best Picture, but Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal were thrilled their film The Hurt Locker took home the accolade.

His Twilight saga costar Jamie Campbell Bower looked great on his own, while Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Nicholas Hoult both looked smart in their bow ties. When Precious first caused rumblings, I thought, "There is no way I'm seeing this film." There are certain things that I find uncomfortable to watch—pregnant teens, abuse, Mariah Carey. But I'm so glad I did. Because despite its drawbacks on paper, Precious provides a big payback to those who watch it. It's one of those few unforgettable films that stays with you days later—for better and for worse. Based on the novel Push by Sapphire, Precious follows the story of Claireece Precious Jones (Gabourey Sidibe), an overweight high school student who is pregnant for the second time by her father and living with her abusive mother, Mary (Mo'Nique). She struggles at school, because on top of her circumstances, she's also coasted through the system without ever learning how to read. So after the news of her recent pregnancy reaches the administration, she enrolls in a special program to get her high school equivalency certificate. I realise that by now you're probably nixing this one as a weepy, formulaic melodrama, but hear me out. The film is indeed a hopeful story at its heart, so to see what I mean keep reading.
