With two of Australia's biggest fashion events falling in the same seven-day period, we always knew this was going to be a doozy of a week when it comes to style. The Logies were off first — TV's "night of nights", where our favourite stars get to doll up and wear Oscars-worthy gowns. Some were incredible — and some less so — but Samara Weaving certainly stood out from the crowd, in the best way possible. Joining her on the red carpet best-dressed list? Laura Dundovic and Carrie Bickmore, in their equally impressive gowns.

And then came fashion week. From Aussie models and TV presenters to women who are recognised globally for their style blogs, the streets of Redfern hadn't looked this good since. . . well, a long time. Lara Bingle kicked things off with a cut-out number in her current go-to colour, black, while Nikki Phillips generously contributed to the colour spectrum with her mini-skirt suit set. And the rest of the globe? Miranda Kerr's street style won us over (again) in LA, Solange Knowles did what she does best, and Katy Perry? She toned things down a notch, and we think her dark, feminine ensemble looks divine. Take a stylish step this way to check it all out.

We had plenty keeping us busy here in Australia, what with the Logies (well done, Asher!) and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia happening within 24 hours of each other, but there was lots going on overseas this week as well! Halle Berry displayed her teensy baby bump when she attended a film premiere in Buenos Aires, while Aussie beauty Miranda Kerr held the hand of her bub Flynn on a walk in Beverly Hills. Nicole Richie and Jessica Alba flaunted their fabulous figures while on a girls' trip to St. Barts, and Charlize Theron and Seth MacFarlane set tongues wagging when they left a restaurant together. Australian TV’s night of nights, the Logie Awards, were held at Crown Palladium in Melbourne last night, and plenty of stars walked the red carpet. Hamish Blake and Andy Lee suited up for occasion, most popular new male talent winner Joel Madden represented The Voice on its season two premiere night, Carrie Bickmore and Samara Weaving brought colour to the carpet, and presenter Jennifer Hawkins sparkled in black. It's TV's night of nights, and the leading ladies of the show did not disappoint us when it came to their red carpet choices. Golden girl of the night, Carrie Bickmore (she's up for the biggest award of the show, the Gold Logie) wowed when she hit the carpet in a watermelon-hued Steven Khalil gown. Rebecca Judd was on the red carpet next, in a sexy and sheer J'Aton number, while Myer ambassador Lauren Phillips went for full-blown glamour in a metallic Arthur Galan gown, and Jennifer Hawkins literally sparkled in inky Jayson Brundson. As we took in the slew of stylish celebs who hit the red carpet at the Logies last night, one thing became very apparent: it's all about what's happening at the back. From Carrie Bickmore and Samara Weaving in their lacy red Steven Khalil numbers, to Jesinta Campbell in her midnight blue Ferragamo sparkler, we couldn't take our eyes off the super-low dips, criss-crossed straps, sheer lace and Grecian inspired-shoulders that came down the carpet. Crown Palladium in Melbourne played host to Australia’s most popular TV stars for the 2013 Logie Awards last night. The show didn’t have an official host but Gold Logie nominees Hamish Blake and Andy Lee kicked off the proceedings by entering the stage on red mobile spinning chairs á la The Voice (a nod to the series’ season two premiere on the same night) after an energetic opening performance from Bruno Mars, the first of many international guests to perform during the show.

Over the next few hours awards were handed out in the popular (public-voted) and outstanding (peer-voted) categories, with Asher Keddie, Steve Peacocke and drama series House Husbands among the first winners. Joel Madden took home his first Logie for most popular new male talent and made fun of the fact that he’s been in the entertainment industry for a long time. Puberty Blues star Brenna Harding was overwhelmed when she won most popular new female talent and gave an emotional speech, while another touching moment was when Deborah Mailman won most outstanding actress for her role as Benita Mabo in Mabo — during her speech she brought the real Benita Mabo to the stage, and it was a double celebration as it was also Benita’s birthday. Channel Nine newsreader Brian Henderson was inducted into the Logie Awards Hall of Fame and brought his intelligence, humour and signature sign-off to the show. There was also a special tribute to Peter Harvey, who passed away last month.

Performances from Michael Bublé, Birdy and Olly Murs were scattered throughout the broadcast — some people on social media aired their disappointment at the lack of Australian performers on Aussie TV’s night of nights — before it came to the big one: the Gold Logie. Bert Newton presented the Gold Logie to a “discombobulated” (her word) Asher Keddie at the end of the night and during his time on stage he made jokes about his long career, Network Ten and even his sex life. Asher admitted, “I’m not sure what it means to me,” about winning the Gold Logie, but went on to thank fans for their support as well as the people who have helped her throughout her career.
