Kerry Washington's Groundbreaking Elle Cover - Plus the Best Covers From June

It's been a long time coming, but actress and industry darling Kerry Washington is on the June 2013 cover of US Elle - the first time she's covered a major American fashion magazine. The cover, shot by Horst Diekgerdes, shows Washington in a look from Marc Jacobs. But even though we've only just begun to dip our toes into the month of May, more than a few glossy covers from the month of June have started to trickle in. Take Carey Mulligan's June cover for Harper's Bazaar UK, for example. The actress, who channeled The Great Gatsby's Daisy Buchanan on the May cover of American Vogue, takes an angelic turn here in a baby pink coat from Prada's Spring 2013 collection. There are some other stunners, including Gwyneth Paltrow for Glamour UK, Karlie Kloss for Vogue Japan, and Nicolas Ghesquiere and Charlotte Gainsbourg for 032c, in which the designer discusses life after Balenciaga. Brad Pitt: "I Haven't Known Life to Be Any Happier"

Brad Pitt traded his signature all-black wardrobe for a white ensemble to pose for the June/July issue of Esquire. Brad is embarking on promotional duties for his latest film, World War Z, which hits Australian cinemas on June 20, but the focus of his Esquire interview fell mainly on the importance of his family. A close friend of Brad's even shared story for the article to illustrate just how loving things can get within the Jolie-Pitt household revealing, "Once I walked in and Angie was standing there and Zahara walked up and said, 'Daddy, you're not going to start making out with Mummy again, are you?' And it's like that. This is a guy who has tried not to do any sexy scenes with other women since he's met Angelina. He's crazy about her, and she's the same way about him."

The interview was conducted before the news of Angelina Jolie's preventative double mastectomy was revealed, which Brad did not allude to during the feature. In addition to praising his long-time partner, he also spoke candidly about finding happiness and addressed the interesting reason behind why he likes to stay at home. On family: "I have a handful of close friends and I have my family and I haven't known life to be any happier. I always thought that if I wanted to do a family, I wanted to do it big. I wanted there to be chaos in the house. There's constant chatter in our house, whether it's giggling or screaming or crying or banging. I love it. I love it. I love it."
On Angelina: "Angie is the best person."
On catching flak for his poor recollection skills: "So many people hate me because they think I'm disrespecting them. So I swear to God, I took one year where I just said, 'This year, I'm just going to cop to it and say to people, "OK, where did we meet?"' But it just got worse. People were more offended. Every now and then, someone will give me context, and I'll say, 'Thank you for helping me.' But I piss more people off. You get this thing, like, 'You're being egotistical. You're being conceited.' But it's a mystery to me, man. I can't grasp a face and yet I come from such a design/aesthetic point of view. I am going to get it tested. That's why I stay at home."

Miley Cyrus Can't Be Tamed in Sexy Maxim Hot 100 Spread

Miley Cyrus bares it all on the cover and inside Maxim's annual Hot 100 issue, in which she is named the hottest woman of the year. Miley was apparently so excited that she leaked the news before Maxim even had the chance to. Five days before Friday's official announcement, Miley joined Instagram and dedicated her first post to expressing her gratitude for being crowned No. 1 on Maxim's Hot 100 list. Inside the issue, Miley said, "It feels amazing to be No. 1, especially because it was voted on by the fans. I have the best fans in the world!" She added, "It's every woman's fantasy to be told she's No. 1 on Maxim's Hot 100! So crazy!" Miley landed the top spot ahead of No. 4 Mila Kunis, No. 8 Kate Upton, and No. 14 Beyoncé Knowles. Maxim will host its annual Hot 100 party in LA on Wednesday, honouring Miley's new title.

Kate Upton Dishes on Her Natural Assets For Vogue

Kate Upton got sexy in a swimsuit for the cover of the June issue of US Vogue. The go-to cover girl for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition is making waves in more than just modeling. Along with making her debut on American Vogue, she is taking her talents to the big screen. Kate is currently filming The Other Woman alongside Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann in NYC. She's known for her figure, but has also faced criticism for her curvaceous physique. In the magazine, she addresses her critics and also reveals her confidence, opening up about loving her body, growing into her figure in her native Florida, as well as her next career moves. Here is more from Kate Upton in Vogue:

On criticism over her figure: "It was hard at first. You sit there and you're like 'Is something wrong with me?' The things that they're rejecting are things that I can't change. I can't change my bra size. They're natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can't change some things. I really just live my life. I love my body. It's what God gave me! I feel confident with myself, and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies, great."
On feeling comfortable with her body growing up: "In Miami, boobs are fantastic. I was so proud of them. I was so excited. Are you kidding? I'm in Florida, and I'm constantly in bikinis. I was like, 'Yes! Killing it! All the girls on the beach are gonna be so jealous!'"
On making it big: "If I'm going to make it as a model, I've got to be a celebrity. My work seems to be my priority at this point in my life. I never set out to be on the runway. I feel like I trust my career path. Acting I'm very interested in. I'm American - more is more!"

Kate Upton, the blonde bombshell the magazine is calling "the hottest supermodel on earth" was photographed for its June cover by Mario Testino. And in it, she's wearing - what else? - a bathing suit. But Upton's first Vogue cover isn't the only first among the glossy array of June's magazine fronts. Miley Cyrus struck a provocative pose for the cover of V Magazine's "Drawn to Fashion" issue. She bared a part of her behind and modelled colourful hairstyles in the shoot with famed fashion photographer Mario Testino. Miley also got candid about her romance with Liam Hemsworth in an interview with the magazine, explaining that working on her upcoming album has taken away time from their relationship. On those pesky breakup rumours: "I'm not home with my boyfriend all the time. We work. Every week it's 'Are they broken up? Because we don't see a photo of them.' I don't have time go to Starbucks with my boyfriend every morning. I wish I did, but I don't. I'd rather chill at my house and be there for the time I actually get to spend with him."
On balancing love and work: "He gets up to work out at six and I come home at five from the studio. I put this record before everything, and I've never done that with anything. I've put too much into this record to put anything else in front of it."
On her new sound: "I can never say that I don't love 'Party in the U.S.A.' and that I'm not appreciative of it. It would be like my dad saying that he hated 'Achy Breaky.' It's what gives you everything that you have. I would never take it back."

Carey Mulligan is Spring-ready surrounded by flowers for Harper's Bazaar UK's June issue. She's on the promotional trail as she preps for the May 30 release of The Great Gatsby, and sat down at a press conference in NYC to chat up the film over the weekend. Carey was joined at the event by her co-stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, who also received mention in the publication. She revealed her excitement about auditioning with Leo, shared her favourite on set song, and explained her love for Prada. Here's more from Carey Mulligan in Harper's Bazaar UK:

On working with Leonardo DiCaprio: "Well, he wasn't my pin-up, but he was for a lot of my girlfriends. When I did the audition with Leo in New York I walked away grinning. Just the idea that if I never got any further, I had just spent an hour and a half acting with Leonardo DiCaprio."
On listening to LMFAO "Party Rock Anthem" while filming Gatsby: "That's what we used to dance to. It's also the song that made me laugh hysterically and there were lots of times when I needed to go into a scene with that kind of energy."
On wearing Prada: "I have worn a lot of Prada and always loved their clothes. I always felt very comfortable. They were the first designer house that ever lent me anything; I wore Prada to the Oscars. The people who work there are so lovely and really just non-scary fashion people."

Vanity Fair Goes Behind the Scenes of Brad Pitt's Troubled World War Z

Brad Pitt covers the June issue of Vanity Fair. Inside the issue, various executives from Paramount, the studio behind his June 20 release, World War Z, talk about their much-publicised production difficulties. Among their troubles were a budget that spiraled to $200 million and having to make the tough decision to reshoot 40 minutes of the film.

Brad doesn't appear to be quoted directly in the piece, but screenwriter Damon Lindelof conveyed the actor's enthusiasm for making World War Z. Damon said, "[Brad] took me through how excited he was when he read the book, what was exciting for him, the geopolitical aspect of it. . . . But when we started working on the script, a lot of that stuff had to fall away for the story to come together. We started shooting the thing before we locked down how it was going to end up, and it didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to. My sense of it was he was taking responsibility." So far, the next crop of glossy fashion magazine fronts don't disappoint: Carey Mulligan channels Daisy Buchanan on the May cover of US Vogue, and Beyoncé makes a glittery first appearance on the cover of Vogue UK. The singer, currently on her Mrs. Carter Show tour, also looks stunning on the cover of Vogue India. Of course the singer isn't the only living legend on one of next month's glossy covers.
