2010 Melbourne Cup: The Best (and Worst) Race Day Beauty

2010 Melbourne Cup: The Best and Worst of the Guys and Girls at Flemington

You have rated and hated your little hearts out, peeps. So now it's times to wrap up and say a big buh-bye to Melbourne Cup for yet another year. This year was a little bit meh. No one really, really wowed us. Perhaps that's because kooky Zandra Rhodes was the one of the only ones to adopt a statement lip. Disappointment doesn't even cover it. Saying that, the girls (and guys) did improve on Derby Day with many avoiding the 12 o'clock oil slick. Bravo. But there were plenty of Valentino tans. Not so bravo. Rebecca Twigley, Louise Roe, Ricki-Lee and Natalie Imbruglia all looked gorgeous, but there was little international glamour because Enrique Iglesias clearly thought he was going to the Australian Open, not the Melbourne Cup. Hmmm. And who woulda thought that Brynne Gordon-Edelsten could by upstaged . . . by her husband! Have a looksee through all the snaps!

Enrique Iglesias Brings Casual Flavour to the Melbourne Cup

International music artist Enrique Iglesias was flown out to Australia to attend the Melbourne Cup, but the Spanish singer seemed to have missed the memo about the dress code!

International music artist Enrique Iglesias was flown out to Australia to attend the Melbourne Cup, but the Spanish singer seemed to have missed the memo about the dress code! While everyone else frocked up for the occasion, Enrique made his entrance in jeans, an open collar shirt and army cap, and didn’t look all that thrilled to be there. He did, however, notice gorgeous The X Factor judge Natalie Imbruglia and introduced himself with a kiss (what would Anna Kournikova think?!). Other celebs who saw Americain win the race included Glenn McGrath and fiancée Sara, Scarlett Belle singers Tamara Jaber and Reigan Derry, Ricki-Lee Coulter and MasterChef judges Matt Preston and George Calombaris. See all their pics and more!

2010 Melbourne Cup: Ricki-Lee Coulter

The gorgeous Ricki-Lee Coulter was a vision in lilac as she hit Flemington yesterday, proving that she's moving onwards and upwards after her "shock" sacking from Nova.

The gorgeous Ricki-Lee Coulter was a vision in lilac as she hit Flemington yesterday, proving that she's moving onwards and upwards after her "shock" sacking from Nova. The 24-year-old hit the Cup with her boyfriend and we're suspecting that she paired her Alex Perry frock with makeup by Ricki-Lee Coulter. The singer is known for doing her own makeup on shoots and sets and we think she's done a great job. Her brows were groomed to perfection, her eye had just the right hint of smokiness to them, and her lashes, while obviously faux, weren't heavy and spidery like some that we spotted yesterday. Paired with a lilac lip, we say aces. You too?

2010 Melbourne Cup: Natalie Imbruglia

Natalie Imbruglia upped the glamour ante at yesterday's Melbourne Cup with The X Factor judge looking flawless.

Natalie Imbruglia upped the glamour ante at yesterday's Melbourne Cup with The X Factor judge looking flawless. Absolutely flawless. I wasn't too keen on her wide-brimmed hat — it was a little too witchy for me — but I do love how she's been wearing her hair in a side chignon. And y'know I love me a winged eye. And Nat nailed the false lashes too. She paired it with flawless skin, which was lightly illuminated, and a nude creamy lip. Definitely one of my favourite looks. Chic and stylish, no? What do you think? A favourite look of yours? Or not?

2010 Melbourne Cup: Rachael Finch

Wowsers. That's a whole lotta purple going on there Miss Finch!

Wowsers. That's a whole lotta purple going on there Miss Finch! Rachael Finch has gone very berry with this Melbourne Cup race day ensemble, and although we can appreciate her coordinating skills, methinks it's a Ribena overload. Sorry to say it Rach — but even though the pieces by themselves are great, together it's just way OTT y'know? Take a moment and IMAGINE if that snappy little dress was in a digital floral print. 'Twould be heaven! Constructive criticism aside, what's your take on Rachael's tonal head to toe? Love it or leave it?

2010 Melbourne Cup: Jesinta Campbell

There are some things you learn through trial and error.

There are some things you learn through trial and error. Which is why I know that Jesinta Campbell won't be teaming a coral blush with a spray time again anytime soon. Coral is gorgeous with a natural-looking tan, but when you're a little on the — sorry, it's gotta be said — orange side, it is not your friend. FACT. Jesinta's got amazing green eyes that I'm totes jealous of so it would've been nice to see her play these up with a purple, warm brown or pink shadow, instead of playing it safe with black kohl. The coral lip is beautiful and I'm awarding her best weather-proofed mane of the racing season for showing zero flyaways for the second race meet running. What do you think of J's look? Is it a winner: yay or neigh? (Sorry, couldn't resist!!!)

L.A expat Sophie Monk is back on deck today at Flemington's Melbourne Cup, and gave us a little style switcheroo from the retro inspired outfit we spied on Derby Day. Gone are Saturday's longer hemlines, wide brimmed hat and dainty gloves, replaced today with a far more modern racing ensemble. Sophie went for a ruched, jersey print tee-dress and Pocahontas-esque, feathered head piece. Simple does it with a print like that — her platform pumps and minimal jewellery are spot on for this get up, but we're not sure this the best look for Soph. How 'bout you? Does Sophie's modern look do it for you? Or do you prefer the lady-like Miss Monk?

OK, so I kinda bagged out Sophie's look yesterday.

OK, so I kinda bagged out Sophie's look yesterday. Not because I don't like her. But because I don't think safari hats are appropriate for Derby Day. Today she opted for a feathery headpiece. She wore her super-long hair super-straight but I'd love to see her adopt the ombré effect which is still big news when it comes to hair colouring. It's just softer and would look great on Soph, dontcha reck? She's gone for a navy eye, which is winged out. It's quite doe-eyed and beautiful, but I'm not too sure about the part-frosted, part-glossy lip, are you? A total improvement on Derby Day but still not as glam as some of the stars we've seen today, methinks. You?

2010 Melbourne Cup: Kate Waterhouse

Looky what we have here!

Looky what we have here! Kate Waterhouse wearing what looks to be an über modern, Josh Goot neoprene dress, with a spiky bronze Givenchy head piece. Pop, Bella and I think that her designer head gear is a little Statue of Liberty looking, but you gotta love the girl for thinking outside the box! What we do lurve is those amazeball black YSL goat hair trimmed Palais pumps, which perfectly anchor her pink printed dress. How do you rate track side Princess Kate's look? Do you heart her left of centre ensemble? Or is her high end get up too whack-balls for you?
