Melissa George will play troubled model/actress Margaux Hemingway in a new movie about her turbulent life. Margaux was the granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway and sister of Mariel Hemingway and was the first model to score a million dollar contract when she signed a deal with Faberge to be the spokesmodel for Babe perfume in the 1970s. She was a regular at Studio 54 and battled with drugs and severe depression. In 1996, just one day short of the anniversary of her grandfather’s suicide, Margaux took an overdose of Phenobarbital and died in her Santa Monica apartment. Filmmaker Richard Dupont, one of the survivors of Andy Warhol’s era, is making the movie and also produced Factory Girl starring Sienna Miller who played another tragic icon, Edie Sedgwick. Dupont says of Margaux: "She rose to fame too quickly. It was all too much for this girl from Ketchum, Idaho, to land in NY and practically overnight become a supermodel.” We can’t wait!
