Oscars Beauty: 20 Vintage Beauty Looks We Love

Sure, poodle perms, frosted shadows and brick red lipstick might look a little dated now, but they were the winged eyeliner of their day, so we need to give them the beauty props they deserve.

Bellissimo! Sigrid Agren Wows in Her Kaleidoscopic Shoot

Everything in beauty is making us want a kaleidoscope right now.

Everything in beauty is making us want a kaleidoscope right now. From Karl Lagerfeld's Karleidoscope fragrance to this gorgeous editorial spread by Sølve Sundsbø in Vogue Italia's October issue, everything's about optical illusions. The shoot stars Sigrid Agren working a Mia Farrow crop teamed with bright pops of green and yellow on the lids and red pout. Obscured by water, raindrops or frosted glass it's interesting to see how the makeup translates and looks through a variety of finishes — our favourite is definitely the multiplying effect of the kaleidoscope though. It's one of our favourite beauty editorials in a long time. Do you agree?

2010 Biggest Beauty Comeback of the Year: Michelle Williams

WINNER: Michelle Williams The Biggest Beauty Comeback of the Year focuses on someone whose style we've admired before, but who has taken a step back only to return looking better than ever.

WINNER: Michelle Williams

The Biggest Beauty Comeback of the Year focuses on someone whose style we've admired before, but who has taken a step back only to return looking better than ever. Which is how we came to the conclusion that there is one clear winner this year: Michelle Williams. Oscars 2006 anyone? Still one of the BEST get-ups we have ever seen. Sigh. Cute styles followed, but nothing that really said WOW. Until the crop popped up in Cannes this May. Glam-o-rama. Peroxide to the max and looking cute-as-a-button, Michelle's skin was perfect, her hair was covetable and her makeup spot on. And never one to rest on her laurels, she's just updated her look to the Mia Farrow ultra-short pixie. LOVE. What a year, Williams. What. A. Year.

Runners-up: No one. From May onwards, this category has been a one-woman show.

Michelle Williams Goes Full Rosemary's Baby; We say Bravo

When Michelle Williams stepped off the plane in Cannes back in May, the beauty world sat up and took note.

When Michelle Williams stepped off the plane in Cannes back in May, the beauty world sat up and took note. Michelle was back where she belonged: in #1 position on the Top of the Crops list after a three-year hiatus from the style. Her platinum pixie was picture perfect and very versatile — Michelle wore it sweeping across her face, parted in a zig-zag, styled into a quiff and now she's gone even shorter with her style, emulating Mia Farrow's Rosemary's Baby cut. While I will miss the sweeping bangs that Michelle wore so well, there's no doubting that the Blue Valentine star's crop — along with Emma Watson's decision to cut Hermione right outta her hair, Cate Blanchett sporting a shorter style and Ginnifer Goodwin's stellar work — is putting the hairstyle back on the map. What do you think of Michelle's new 'do which she debuted at a screening of her new movie last night? Do you prefer her pixie long or short, huh?

Love It or Hate It: Emma Watson's Berry-licious London Look

She's played a girl with notoriously bad hair for a big chunk of her life so it seemed kinda fitting that Emma Watson wanted to cut Hermione Granger right out her hair after years of playing the know-it-all in Harry Potter.

She's played a girl with notoriously bad hair for a big chunk of her life so it seemed kinda fitting that Emma Watson wanted to cut Hermione Granger right out her hair after years of playing the know-it-all in Harry Potter. But even though it's been three months since we saw the first snap of Emma and her crop, it still catches me by surprise every time I see her out and about. Imma just say it. I miss her long hair. I know, I know. It's got nothing to do with me. And I totes get Em's sentiment about it being "liberating" as she wasn't allowed to cut it because of the movies but. I don't know. There's just a BUT. Is there for you? Or do you heart her pixie crop? Makeup-wise, for this London photocall yesterday, Ms. Watson teamed her picture-perfect porcelain skin with this season's hottest lip colour—berry. Some liquid liner and lashings of mascara finished the look. My only change would be a lighter lower lash line — not so mascara-heavy — to soften the look and leave it all about the lips. Now it's over to you peeps.

Love It or Hate It: Emma Watson's New Pixie Crop

While her Harry Potter character, Hermione Granger has to fight the frizz on a daily basis, Emma Watson's day-to-day style is a little more sleek and refined.

While her Harry Potter character, Hermione Granger has to fight the frizz on a daily basis, Emma Watson's day-to-day style is a little more sleek and refined. And now, Emma has a brand-new pixie crop. "The stylist [Rodney Cutler of NYC's Cutler Salon] just grabbed the back of my hair and took a whole ponytail of hair out," the starlet told EW.com.

Emma even took to her Facebook page to proclaim her excitement. "Feels incredible. I love it. I've wanted to do this for years and years; it's the most liberating thing ever," she wrote on her wall. What do you think of Emma's new Mia Farrow-esque look? It's such a change for the Burberry star . . . and I think I'm still a little in shock at the dramatic change. Props for trying something new though. Are you feeling it or not?

Love It or Hate It: Ginnifer Goodwin's Spiky Crop

Ginnifer has without a doubt made the gamine crop sexy again.

Ginnifer has without a doubt made the gamine crop sexy again. Not since Miss Moss have we seen the modern-day take on the Audrey Hepburn or Mia Farrow pixie crop done so well. Normally one to wear it 'flat' with her fringe swept to one side, she's recently taken to sporting a spikier style with more voluminous roots. Here she is at the Metropolitan Opera Gala Premiere of Armida; what do you think?

The Muses of Woody Allen

This week the famed, though controversial, director Woody Allen turns 74. Talented as he may be, where would he be without the women who make his films come alive? While not all actresses reach the musing heights of Mia Farrow, Diane Keaton, or Dianne Wiest, we're going to take a loose interpretation of "muse" and look at the many women he's perfectly cast.

And, Woody, we're happy to see your old-age fear of wandering through a cafeteria screaming about socialism has not materialized. But you're young yet!
