International style icon Nicole Richie continued her whirlwind tour of Sydney last night. The fashionista flew into Australia on Wednesday to officially open the MidCity shopping centre in the CBD. She appeared on the Today show yesterday morning and her US publicist reportedly threw a tantrum minutes before the interview when she saw a promo for Nicole’s appearance talking about her weight, party girl past and being BFFs with Paris Hilton. Today show co-host Lisa Wilkinson was visibly frustrated and caught in the cross-fire. Nicole coolly answered the questions that were asked of her and seemed to warm toward the end of the interview. Last night, Nicole appeared at a VIP dinner to celebrate the opening of MidCity with Aussie celebs including Catherine Martin, pyjama king Peter Alexander, April Rose Pengilly and Camilla Freeman-Topper. Nicole’s fiancé, Joel Madden, is holding things down in the US and is expected in NYC this evening for a US pre-Father's Day event.

The style icon flew in yesterday, sans rocker fiancé Joel Madden and children Harlow and Sparrow, for a whirlwind three day visit. Hours after she arrived, she hit the Bondi Icebergs and tucked into a hearty steak. Then she was up bright and early for an interview on theToday show, before heading to the ribbon cutting ceremony packed with fans and paparazzi. After a fashion shoot and more interviews, she’ll attend a dinner tonight and then jet back off to LA to celebrate US Father’s Day on Sunday.

Nicole Richie is in town for a little retail therapy and will officially open Pitt Street’s MidCity after its major makeover. Nicole arrived at 6am sans fiancé Joel Madden and her two kids, 2-year-old Harlow and 9-month-old Sparrow. She was surrounded by body guards and paparazzi, but still managed to pose with a waiting fan. Nicole will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony tomorrow and will be the guest of honour at an exclusive dinner tomorrow evening.
