As if we needed another reason to adore the multi-talented Anne Hathaway, the Hollywood sweetheart stepped out for the London premiere of One Day, channeling easy glamour in a lace-embroidered Alexander McQueen dress. We love the nod to Old Hollywood with a red lip and perfectly retro waves, while the white dress and McQueen leather whipstich pumps play beautifully to the season. To finish, Anne added megawatt baubles — and her megawatt smile to match. Catch her fabulous premiere look, from all angles!
Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway, who wore Alexander McQueen, were side by side for the London premiere of One Day yesterday evening. The co-stars, who walked the red carpet together, reunited overseas after spending a few days together promoting the project in NYC earlier this month. Anne has been taking breaks from the set of The Dark Knight Rises as she travels to do press and make appearances for her latest film. One Day hasn't necessarily been a critical hit with American reviewers, but we'll see if European audiences give it a warmer reception when it opens there this week. After all, the bestselling novel it's based on originated — and is especially beloved — in England, though it has now sold more than one million copies worldwide.
A breakout role in the Princess Diaries may have proven nearly autobiographical for Anne Hathaway; her princess-like rise to Hollywood stardom and elite style status align with that of her fictional character. Now she's one of Hollywood's top young actors and muse to elite designers like Armani Privé and Valentino, but Anne began her career with a modest girl-next-door style that lacked the polished presence we expect from her today. Boasting a résumé that includes roles in Brokeback Mountain, The Devil Wears Prada, Rachel Getting Married, and now One Day, and countless red carpets later, Anne's earned her place in Hollywood about a dozen times over. Is this taking the pyjama trend too literally? We saw this rising trend for resort — Louis Vuitton and Céline did luxe versions of sleepwear silhouette — and yes, we do have a thing for slipper flats, but maybe this top-to-toe bedtime ensemble is taking things a bit far. US based designer Rachel Roy chose menswear pyjamas, accessorized with a brown leather clutch and dressy heels, for the One Day premiere in New York City yesterday. We're in favour of donning a single piece, but not the whole shebang. What's your call?
At last night's premiere of One Day in New York City, Anne Hathaway teamed her stunning McQueen dress with a simple makeup palette that Chanel makeup artist Kate Lee wanted to be "cute, young and casual." Here's what Lee did:
For her face, Lee started with Chanel Perfection Lumière foundation ($86, it'll be available in October), which she applied with a sponge. On her eyes, Lee applied a purplish brown hue for definition — Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Antique Rose ($45). Then, she applied black liner at the base of Anne's top and bottom lashes and inside her waterline for an "ink pot effect." Lee blended in Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Eyeshadow in Mirifique ($48) to the outer corner of Anne's lids, softening the cat-eye shape by blending a bit of colour under the eye. She curled the lashes, then applied a few coats of Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara ($52) for extra intensity. Anne's brows were "slicked into place" with brow gel and lastly, Lee finished the look with a hint of Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Fetiche ($50) on Anne's lips.
Anne Hathaway stepped out yesterday for the New York premiere of One Day, where she opened up about turning 30 and sang the praises of her "heartthrob" co-star Jim Sturgess. She also addressed the criticism about her recently-revealed Catwoman costume in The Dark Knight Rises, telling MTV, "What I am happy to say is, if you didn't like the photo, you only see about a 10th of what that suit can do. And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste." Check it out on today's PopSugar Rush!
Anne Hathaway met up with her One Day co-star Jim Sturgess on the red carpet of the film’s New York premiere. The movie is an adaptation of a novel that follows the lives of Emma (Anne) and Dexter (Jim) for 20 years, checking in with each character on the same day of every year. Anne looked stunning in a strapless black dress with gold accents, while Jim, who greeted his leading lady with a hug, looked handsome in his three-piece suit. While the focus for today was One Day, Anne has been generating lots of buzz for her role in The Dark Knight Rises, especially after fans were given the first look of her Catwoman character last week.
Looks like a little fashion ESP was going on today, with Anne Hathaway, Katie Holmes and Olivia Wilde all reaching for a trusty LBD for their respective red carpet duties. Anne opted for a 50s silhouette with her Alexander McQueen Resort '12 cocktail frock for the One Day premiere in NYC, whilst across town at the Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark bash Katie Holmes looked laid back in a languid black frock from her own Holmes & Yang label. In Germany, Olivia went for classic tailoring in a chic Tom Ford A/W '11 dress and polished Brian Atwood pumps as part of her Cowboys and Aliens press tour. So, which silhouette do you favour; Anne's shapely hourglass, Katie's loose-fit LBD or Olivia's stitched up shift?
