Elizabeth Banks not only appears in Pitch Perfect, but she also played a behind-the-scenes role as one of the film's producers. We recently sat down with Elizabeth and the musical comedy's director, Jason Moore, to talk about the surprising level of drama in the competitive a cappella world, Rebel Wilson's memorable audition, and making Elizabeth a last-minute addition to the cast. Pitch Perfect is in cinemas now.
Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow play members of an all-female a capella group in the upcoming Pitch Perfect, and while both actresses had solid voices to begin with, they were still put through the paces as they prepped to play competitive singers. We caught up with Anna and Brittany at a recent press day for the movie to hear about the musical boot camp they and their co-stars were put through and why shooting the comedy sometimes made them feel like they were away at college. Check out our interview, and catch Pitch Perfect in cinemas from Dec. 6.
It’s crazy to think that it’s already December, and not just because Christmas is just over three weeks away. It also means Boxing Day films, some of the year’s most anticipated, are finally being released. Two of those are The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which brings to the big screen the classic J.R.R. Tolkien novel and prequel to the Lord of the Rings series, and Les Misérables, Tom Hooper’s grand production of the famous musical starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway among other Hollywood stars. There’s another musical in the mix and it couldn’t be more different from Les Mis, as well as a bunch of family-friendly offerings, so click through to see what’s released in Australia this month.
Rebel Wilson is one of the fastest-rising comedic actors today, with her relatively small but remarkably memorable roles in movies like Bridesmaids and Bachelorette earning her critical praise and audience approval. In Pitch Perfect, the Australian actress has a chance to stretch both her acting and musical muscles playing a college a cappella competitor. We recently caught up with Rebel to hear about taking on the new challenge and the unexpected role Lady Gaga played in helping her get the part. Pitch Perfect hits cinemas this Thursday, Dec. 6.
The cast of Pitch Perfect hit the red carpet for their LA premiere yesterday. Elizabeth Banks wore a sexy black Alexander McQueen dress for the occasion and posed with co-star Adam DeVine, while Rebel Wilson, in ABS, got together with Anna Camp, who will return to the small screen in The Good Wife. Anna Kendrick arrived in a nude Zuhair Murad look and later changed into a black number to party with her co-stars and director Jason Moore. Brittany Snow was also on hand to celebrate the movie's debut ahead of its limited US release this Friday. Pitch Perfect is released in Australia on Dec. 6.
