I've had a lot of time over the years to ruminate on what makes a good romantic comedy and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the trailer for Drew Barrymore and Justin Long's Going the Distance, which opens in cinemas this weekend, has many of those elements. First of all, there's clear chemistry between the leads (no doubt due in part to Barrymore and Long's real-life relationship). They play Erin and Garrett, a brand-new couple who are about to test the waters with a long-distance relationship after only six weeks of dating.

Breaking Dawn's screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg has revealed her plans for Renesmee's birth to be "intense" and "visceral". Melissa has spoken about this scene before, saying that while she thinks the childbirth should be on screen, she wouldn't want to go so far as showing "teeth in the placenta". It's going to be a big moment for Kristen Stewart, and Melissa said Kristen and Robert are excited to start.

Start the countdown! It's only a couple of hours until Mad Men starts back up, which means it's time to go into premiere prep mode. I've already kicked things off by giving you a look at the show's actors before they hit the big time, but let's discuss the characters themselves.

A Current Affair’s Tracy Grimshaw is certainly having a good week, first she scored an interview with Bert and Patti Newton and last night she sat down with Aussie icon Paul Hogan. The Australian Taxation Office believes Hoges owes millions in unpaid taxes and won’t allow him to leave the country. Meanwhile, he says that he never used offshore accounts as tax havens and actually "paid too much" in taxes. Hogan said he will fight until his name is cleared and that doesn’t want special treatment because he is a celebrity.

Jon Hamm has made a name for himself playing all-business Don Draper on Mad Men, but the actor seems to jump at any opportunity to show off his comedic skills (which he has in spades). He went all out for SNL last year, and showed off those moves again as part of Jimmy Fallon's opening song-and-dance number at the Emmys. Hamm will get another chance to bring the laughs when he returns to 30 Rock yet again for the show's much-anticipated live episode in October.

It's been four long years, but The Hills ends this evening when the series finale airs on MTV. It's last episode in their sixth season and we'll be taking a look back at how the stars, like Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, and Lo Bosworth, have changed over the years with a special slideshow and quiz, so stay tuned. One of the show's leads, Kristin Cavallari, recently warned that nothing you see on TV is real, but The Hills has nonetheless been a cultural phenomenon.

Last night out US Sugar Sisters sat in the Emmy press room as each honoree spoke with excitement and genuine surprise about his or her win (check out the full list here), but several of the winners threw me for a loop. Julianna Margulies seemed like a shoo-in for outstanding dramatic actress until The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick was called. But then Margulies's Good Wife co-star Archie Panjabi cancelled out both Mad Men ladies Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss in the supporting actress category.

Last night's Emmy Awards was full of pretty ladies and gorgeous guys, but the real hotness was centred around the evening's loved-up attendees. Longtime couple Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon showed sweet affection that rivalled Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer's newlywed glow. Amy Poehler and Will Arnett brought lots of laughs, while host Jimmy Fallon and his wife Nancy didn't stop smiling on their way in.
