Princess Mary and her husband Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark may have only been in town for five days, but they sure packed in the action! They kicked off their trip, which was in honour of the Sydney Opera House's 40th birthday, with a public appearance at the iconic landmark on Thursday before they ventured through the Royal Botanical Gardens for a visit to Government House. On Friday the couple made their way to Sydney's inner west where they spent some time at Five Dock Primary School, and later that night they were back at the Opera House for the opening of a special exhibition, Danish Design at the House.
The royals also had a busy weekend, which included a visit to the Australian Twin Registry at the Sydney Children's Hospital and an appearance to help launch the eSmart Homes Digital License on Saturday. On Sunday, they met with volunteer firefighters and people who had been affected by the recent bushfires in the area of Winmalee, and ended the weekend at the Sydney Opera House's 40th Anniversary official reception and concert.
On Monday, there were a few more official appointments and meetings with representatives from Danish export companies, and their time in Australia wrapped up with the 2013 Crown Prince Couple Awards, which saw Princess Mary and Prince Frederik break out their black-tie attire.

The biggest event of the week that elicited a collective “Aww!” was Prince George’s christening, where the world got to glimpse his chubby cheeks and cheery demeanour. It’s actually been a very busy week for his mother, Kate Middleton, who stepped out three times — first to play some volleyball, then for the christening, and finally for her first gala charity event since welcoming her son in July. Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani finally confirmed she’s pregnant with her third child when she cradled her baby bump at the Annenberg Gala last weekend. As for hot young stars Lara Bingle and Harry Styles, they were all about showing skin at their respective events.

Princess Mary and Prince Frederik kicked off a five-day tour of Sydney this morning at the Sydney Opera House — fitting, since it’s the reason for their trip back to Australia. The Danish royals have returned to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Opera House, and today they were greeted by hundreds of well-wishers at the landmark, with many waving Australian and Danish flags. Princess Mary expressed sadness over the recent NSW bushfires, saying, “It’s heartbreaking. We’ve been monitoring the situation for the past eight days from Denmark. Our deepest sympathies go to those who have been affected. Our upmost respect goes to those who are working to control these fires that are really scary. It’s always heartbreaking to see people who are losing possessions and homes. Bushfires are part of the Australian life.”
The royals have a busy schedule ahead of them, which includes an appearance at Five Dock Primary tomorrow, and a visit to the Australian Twin Registry at Sydney Children’s Hospital on Saturday. On Sunday night they’ll return to the Opera House for an official reception and gala concert thrown in their honour.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's little boy, Prince George, was christened today, making him the latest in a long line of British royals to be celebrated in this special religious rite of passage. The occasion took place at the St. James's Palace chapel, where George was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Keeping with tradition, he wore a replica of the lace-and-satin gown made for Queen Victoria's daughter Victoria that most of the British royals have worn for christenings since 1841 — including Prince William. In honour of the little royal's special day, let's look back at some of the most memorable royal christenings of the past!
Kate Middleton and Prince William released the first official photo of Prince George yesterday and, to celebrate, we're looking back at other little princes and princess from around the world. Be it three adorable Dutch sisters, Monaco's Prince Albert in mother Grace Kelly's arms, or popular favourite Prince Harry, these blue-blood babes have posed for many precious portraits. Flip through our royal baby book now.
Princess Mary and Prince Frederik looked like they could not have been prouder of their daughter, Princess Isabella, as they escorted her to her first day of school yesterday. The 6-year-old princess is following in the footsteps of her older brother Prince Christian by attending Tranegard School, but she wasn’t as cheeky as he was in his photo call for the event. In a couple of years Princess Mary and Prince Frederik will go through the same thing again when their twins hit school age. As for the Danish royals’ more immediate plans, they’re planning a return to Australia as they’ve been confirmed to attend the Sydney Opera House’s 40th Anniversary concert and gala dinner on Oct. 27. No word on whether they’ll be joined by any or all of their four children.
